I am looking at purchasing a Sundancer 260. The concern I have is that the boat does not have any bottom paint on the hull. It is a 2004 and it is moored in salt water. The boat looks very well kept. The California marina in which it is moored has a lot of divers around that I have been told clean the bottom regularly. I am not sure if the boat has been in the water for it`s whole life or not. Would blisters be a major concern? How soon can they start to form on an unprotected hull? What about delamination? I have also been told that doing a hull survey on a boat this new would be a waste of money. Thanks in advance for any and all advice!

The boat needs to be pulled so that either you can look at the hull or for a survey. I don't think a survey would be a waste of money.

A six year old boat in salt water warrants a hull survey in my opinion. Have it pulled and take a good look. Usually trailerable boats without bottom paint, are more desirable to most buyers.

If the boat has been in the water for six years without bottom paint. . .then no further inspection -or consideration- is necessary.

But seriously. . . in my area, keeping a boat in salt water without paint would require cleaning every few *days*, or it would look like crud.
