I have a 2006 340 with 8.1 horizons. Yesterday I lost my port engine while trying to leave the slip. It was idling fine and as soon as we started to untie it died. It would turn over fine and I confirmed that I was getting spark which led to a fuel issue. This engine has the cool fuel module and I tried changing the fuel filter in the canister and the disk at the bottom. The disk was very dirty and I figured I had solved the problem but it still would not start. After confirming the electronic fuel switch is working I checked I confirmed that there is a hum from the fuel pump then the ignition is engaged. At this point I figured the system needed to be primed so I removed the filter again and filled the chamber with gas and reinstalled the filter. The engine fired right up and ran for a minute before dying again. Tried this again and gave the motor throttle after starting and it ran and died again.

Any my ideas on next steps? I know there are two fuel pumps. How do you know which one may be at issue?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I would confirm that it's not the IAC.
Check pressure at the rail
The CF3 can fail in such a way that the water jacket can corrode and introduce water to the fuel system. So if you have good fuel pressure confirm that it's pure gas. Your boat is of the age that it would make sense to take a good look inside the CF unit.

Thank you for your response. I tried to open the cool fuel module to get a look inside and snapped a couple bolts on the fuel pump cover so ended up pulling the whole module and there is a lot of corrosion and it appears to be the old style unit. My other motor appears to have the new style so I will bite the bullet and order a new one to play it safe.
