hello i have a omc sterndrive w/ 5.7 litre 1984 srv 225 express cruiser. yesterday got home from full day boating and with boat on trailer went to lower outdrive had no power and no power to ignition as well turn the key and nothing at all happens. however there was power to the helm starboard accesories switches wiper, horn ,cabin lights etc.. any help would be appreciated greatly as the motor is sitting with salt water in it right now. thanks, jim

First thing to check are the two big 50 amp fuses on the back of the engine. They are on the starboard side aft, on top of the motor. They are by the three relays. Remove the spring clip and see if either is blown. I had an interesting experience on my old boat. I was adjusting the timing and my finger just bumped the red wire at the fuse holder and all electrical power to the engine and dash went away. I wiggled the wire and I had power. Seems the spring clip that grips the fuse base was streched out and loose. They are available thru any OMC/Bombardier dealer as they were used up thru the Cobra years.
If that all checks out, clean all the connections on those three relays.

thank you i will check asap. are they inline fuses or what do they look like. sorry for my ignorance and i really appreciate any advice

yes engine is definatly in neutral the toggle switches on the ignition switch side are dead but the starboard side of steering wheel dash switches are all working

well i found my problem there are 3 orange wires that go to bus bar power under dash positive side they have fusible links one of them was corroded and fuse burnt installed a new fuse and link and i am back in business:smt038 thanks to all who replied , jim
