I am strongly considering installing an Octopus drive in my boat. I fish a fair amount and having an autopilot for trolling makes things so much easier. Looks like they make 2 options for my 280da without converting to hydraulic. One is a replacement steering rack but I have been reading the specs on the unit, and according to the specs, looks like there may not be enough clearance behind the dash. The other can be installed in the E/R and cables direct on to existing steering system. I have seen some posts about others who were considering using an octopus drive, but none that actually have installed on a 280. Has anyone installed one, and if so are you happy with it?
