My new to me 1989 340 Express has a couple of issues. The water stinks when running the taps or putting water in the toilet bowl via the pedal. I obviously need to drain & refill & am unable to figure out how to do that

Also when I stand on the dock behind her she is listing slightly to the right. There is no water in the bilge & the fuel tanks have an equal amount of fuel in them. I read somewhere that someone with a similar problem ended up with a soft bottom & water got between the hull & inside skin. Is that a possible condition on this particular boat & if so is it safe to use as I really want to use it until season end & not have to take it out of the water right now. Aside of that are there any other theories, like the holding tank being on that side or something else causing uneven weight distribution or maybe just a characteristic of this boat{fingers crossed}

A full & detailed survey was done in April 2008 & everything was perfect except a few very minor repairs , which were carried out at that time

Am taking it out Sunday for our first ride & want to feel good & safe about it

Thank you in advance for your valuable input

Your list could be caused by anything from gear & system components weight distribution to the more serious condition that you referenced. I don't know how much, if any of your boat is cored, so I will defer to the experts.

As for your foul smelling water,
1.) Simply empty the tank by running it out through the faucets.
2.) Add some bleach to the tank, (I'll say 1 cup per 20 gallons), fill the tank with water.
3.) Open any and all outlets. Flush the toilet a half dozen times or so.
4.) Once that tank is empty, repeat step 3 again without the bleach.

Can also use Aquabon for water odor, 2oz/40 gal. works great.

The boats of that era and size had solid fiberglass bottoms so no coreing there to worry about. Check your tanks and also your stored gear for an imbalance. My '89 300DA has the water and waste tanks on the port side and if both are near full, she will list slightly to port. I counter by placing my extra gear on the starboard side.

Thank you both for those answers. Couldn't find where to fill the tank

I assume you have a fill cap along the gunnel somewhere (probably near where your tank is). Probably marked "water" on the cap.
