Official 1980's Weekender/Sundancer 300 thread

I think mine is a Taylor hatch. Get the measurements and shop Taylor, Bomar, etc...

Had my BRAND NEW VHF radio, buffer, fan, and cordless drill stolen from the boat last night. At least they re-zippered and buttoned up the canvas. People suck!!

I had some real expensive rods and reels stolen from a boat once down at the slip. Learned my lesson.
Sorry to here of your lose.

Craigslist detective time! (probably more like local pawn shop)

They hit several boats. All boats are still on the hard. A few had the shrink wrap torn across the back to gain access.

Hi guys
I've been away from the site for a while but it's time to get posting again. I have a host of new projects that need to get done and I really need to tweak the write up I did on extending my swim platform. I've read through this thread a few times some really good info.
Projects for May, new water heater (thanks to Doug DMCB for the new free heater), four new stero speakers, snake river monitor system for the holding and water tank. Remove the carpet in the locker where the Xantrex charger and water heater are located and paint, install a permanent drain for the water heater. New sea-cock for the head water line. Redo the teak at the stern and install the Weaver Davits I bought 3 years ago. And last but not least make a template of the dash I am going to install a Lowrance HD-7 dead center, move the tacks to either side, not sure how I will lay the rest of the gauges out per engine or arrange per group, voltage together, oil together and tacks with the sync gauge below the chartplotter. Once I have a blank template I will know better. I an thinking about raising the plotter up 2" above the current dash line. I also need to refill my compass with oil and I don't think I ever wrote up installing a Xantrex charger and a monitoring system. I have two chargers connected to the boat the original and a smart charger with computer monitoring, it works great.
That about does it for now but I know there are more projects just need to find my list and all the stuff I bought over the last few years.

If you want to contact me please email me or post something.

I'm sorry. All the boat owners that keep their boats in the water year round got together and placed cameras on the roof and other areas so the yard and covered docks can be watched. We also placed game cameras in locations to be able to catch folks coming onto the floating covered slips. We also did something that works better that anything else, we have placed signs at places like the fuel dock and ramp advising 24hr camera in use. We found that most issues come from folks that are just launching or fueling and see all those pretty boats on the hard and under cover. With the signs folks think somebody is always watching. It seems to be working based on the year before compared to this past year. That year we were missing props, gear and such. We even had folks sleeping on the boats on the hard to get out of the cold. This year we've had zero issues. Sometimes just placing a fake camera and a sign just keeps them honest.

Been a very busy boy, this week my bellows was changed and both shift cable bellows and the shift cable on my port drive. The starborad drive was also pressure tested and re-sealed, the trim indicators were changed on both drives. I am lauching a week tomorrow, still a lot to do before she gets wet, wax and polish her on Tuesday. Today we pulled the shrink wrap off and I put the top on, it worked out great removing it in the fall on the day they put the wrap on. I cleaned the windows and cleaned the bottoms of any dirt, nice clean top on a very dirty boat.
Can't be working over the weekend it is my 40 wedding aniversary on Sunday.

I hope they loaded all the things he took plus him in a PD car, drove him back to the marina and made him hand each and every piece back to the boater he stole it from and apologize. Then make him stand there and take whatever heat may come his way.
I also hope the first as well as many others have a sidearm in plane sight that he can see, just to let him know how lucky he was for not finding that boater sleeping on his boat that night. Fear is a wonderful motivator

I think if you go to Spectrum's site you can find it there.

You can call Sea Ray with your hull number. They were really a big help when I called a few years ago.

I know its on this site somewhere, but does anyone remember how to find out your gelcoat type/color?

I found that they could not match my 24 year old sun bleached gelcoat but it was very easy for me to tint. When I made my extended swim platform I got the color perferct. White, a little yellow and a little brown. A drop goes a long way.

Today I recieved a message on facebook about an electrical outlet from England that also has USB outlets. I did a google search and found them available in North America. I am stopping tomorrow and picking up two 120v outlets with 2 usb outlets. One for the outlet close to the front birth and the other for the outlet by the hanging locker. Using the 120v adapters has always been a pain, they take up both outlets plugs. Now we will be able to charge the two phones and both tablets and not take up any 120v outlets.
There are lots out there the link is show a picture only, not to purchase from them.

I have a 1986 very clean 300 weekender I have noticed some damp area in closet in sleeping area. Now I resealed the port and starboard window with 357 silicone. But the aluminum bezels are coming away from boat is there a way to tighten because I suspect that leak is coming from there Or anyone else determine where they are prone to leek from
Thanks Marty

Sea Rays of our age need tightening up from time to time. Mine was damp around the porthole glass and cabinet. I took awhile but I found it was really leaking where the top hull meet the bottom. We took the rub rail off and added more rivets and sealed the joint tighter. I need to pull my portholes next and reseal them as well.
