Official (1998-2002) 310 Sundancer Thread

Hello,
We are looking at upsizing and the 310DA is a really good next step for us. We have found a 2000 310DA with 350 v-drives and have made an initial offer. In the pictures of the vessel I can see there is no sync gauge, when I questioned it the sales person stated that some didn’t come with that gauge. I have looked at other 310’s and have yet to find a v-drive without the gauge.
My question, did some v-drive 310’s not have the sync gauge?
We are going to travel 14 hrs. to see the vessel and this (so far) is the only thing bothering me about this potential purchase.
Thanks
Denny

Denny,
I do believe that the sync gauge was an option on the 310.
If the boat is what you want, do some price checking too install the gauge.
Build this cost into your final offering for the boat or make a decision if you want to spend the additional money after the purchase.
Good luck,
Bob

That is a great boat, you are going to love it. Yes, as others have said, you really want that gauge. Build into your offer. With twins of any size, you must have this. Let us know how it goes! Good luck!

Hello all
I just purchased a 2002 310 DA with 350 Horizons V Drives and a Westerbeke Gen.
I moved up from a 1995 290 DA with twin I/O's.
All I can say is WOW.
What a difference a few feet makes and the way this boat handles.
Now I know why this was one of Sea Rays popular boats.
Took awhile to find the right one but I'm glad I waited.

Littlle Bit make sure you get a good surveyor and request to have oil sampled by a lab on both motors and generator if it has one.A sync gauge should be the least of your worries. Make sure all the hull, deck and all mechanicals are good.
Owners and Brokers will all tell you their boat is the best and there's nothing wrong with it.

I looked at 6 310's only 2 of them met my approval. I did surveys on both (expensive) 1 of them had the oil samples come back with bad readings on both motors causing me not to move forward with the purchase.

It's a big investment just don't rush and do you homework.

Good Luck I hope it works out for you.

Very good advice........

Cfd95 I thought I was reading my story lol. I to moved up from a 1995 290 I also agree what a difference the 310 is. Love this boat !

Thats great.
The 290 was a good boat but the room the 310 has blows it away.
I got lucky and found this one up in Rockland County. Hudson River boat since new only 290 hours on it.
Drove it down last month to Northport what a great ride.
The way it cruises and handles around the dock is great.
I know its slower and less fuel efficient than I/O's but I will never buy a sterndrive boat again.

My 310 came from valley cottage ny. She fell off the stands during Sandy. She had bent props rudders and one bent strut and about 2'x2' scratch in the gel coat. Had her ready for service In 3 weeks. I lucked out both motors were long blocked the season before so they only had 50 hrs on them. Only thing I wish it had is a genset

Whats the diameter of our rod holders 1/1/2 or 1 5/8 ???

Has anyone added to the outside and platform the new flooring material that looks like wood? I know this is pretty expensive, so I just wanted some insights if its worth the expense and does it hold up as they claim. It gives the boat that extra and just looks great. If anyone has information it would be great. Thanks.

I have a 99 310 sundancer with 3 Batteries. 2 of the batteries are one in front of each other and the 3rd is to the right of the pair. My question is how do you remove that 3rd battery? Seems like without removing exhaust plumbing its almost impossible.

There is a 99 310 on creigslist in Rhode Island for 3k the bottom was ripped off but it has a lot of useable parts.
