Official 240 Sundancer Thread

Man, I got stucked at the Caribbean Boat show this wekend (not as big as earlier years) and missed the chance to see the 240DA and if not mistaked got sold. A well better luck next time, still boatless for now.

Keep us updated.
Finally went back. So I brought a 1/4 inch piece of wood and jammed it in and moved the shock up and took a mallet a whacked it back into the ball joint. Then I tackled the oring leak on my port trim tab. Then installed my new vbirth backings, thanks Sea Ray. Then washed the boat down. Got all the campers canvas's up. Next time back will wax it.

Thought since this thread was alittle light lately I would add a picture. Boat went in on April 13th and is in her new slip.

Spike, do you bottom paint? What does it do to your performace, the painted bottom I mean?

My boat with the 5.0 and 20 in props hits 38-40mph. How about yours?

Island,

Yep bottom painted with Micron CSC. Stock props so not sure the pitch exactly, but your mph is real close. I am closer to 41 at 4300 rpms.

Are you in yet?

Yes, I've been "in" all year, NC is great, year round boating if you want to. I trailer mine so, it's not difficult to rewinterize if I use it during winter.

You must be running 22in props to be hitting that kind of speed at that rpm. Does your boat plane off easy? or does it struggle up? I can't imagine what 22's would be like. I guess I need to try them.

Ok, I am jealous. :) Year round would be nice. I have to check on my props now. It does plane easy. Only time I had a hard time planning is when I had full water and gas and had 8 ppl on board. Let me check my props this weekend and get back to you.

I wonder if you have the 20" cupped. That would make them like 21". You have/get better performace than I do. I hit 40mph@ 4900rpm, gps with my 20's. With a full load of fuel, water, 3-4 people and "stuff" aboard, sometimes it struggles to plane.
Anyways, nice boat, I like the colored hull, I just didn't have the guts to buy one.

How can I tell if I have to 20" cupped? I don't go near 4900 RPM's. Most I will hit is around 4300-4400.

Blue Hull is nice but it is a pain in the arse to keep clean and maintain. :)

Well, if your boat weren't in the water you could look at the trailing edge of the blade, and see a ridge or feel a rise in the metal.

Otherwise I would think the serial number on the prop would tell you.

For all of us guys with the '99-'04 260DA's and I believe the same model years on the 240DAs I wanted to introduce a new product I'm developing. It's a cabin sink cover/cutting board.

The official thread is here so let me know if you're interested. I am still sorting out pricing, but I need to buy once complete sheet of material (approx 20 covers) to make it worth it for all.
Stay tuned and thanks for looking.

Looks very good Todd. I have a stainless steel sink on my 2004 model, and I will measure how big/small it is.

I 'am also want to change the faucet. It is to big, and the water is splaching to my AC panel. I want the have a model with I small arrow (shorter to the sink)

Hey, Degree of Fredom... Did you ever get to replace the plastic door slides on the galley (cabin) with the new rollers and tracks? I want to do that too and was hoping you had some pics. The drawing you got from Sea Ray is very helpful, but how do you get to the seven screws that are shown to be holding the helm to the starboard side of the cockpit to remove them? The SR people did not explain that one like they did for removing the front brackets (they said to remove the instrument cluster and use a long screw driver to get to those screws)! Please let me know how this all worked out if you did do it. thanks... John

I have an 2006 240da and curious about the roller change for the door. Will this give a better fit? My door has huge gaps that the bugs get through very easily. Please advise,

Thanks,

Bill

Hi ive just got a 1997 Sundancer 240 and I have a newbie question regarding converting the cockpit table into a sunpad. Ive found the cockpit table and the cushions to popper on to it, but there appears to be no low support for the table to sit on anywhere. Im guessing there should be a shorter table leg somewhere. Ive looked all around the boat and I dont appear to have one. The normal height table leg is under the aft facing seat where the table lives. Any other hidden areas I could look in to find it? If it doesn't turn up does anyone know where I can get one from? On a different topic my boat is missing the wiper arm. Any guidance as to the spec for it and where to look for one would be much appreciated also. Thanks in advance.
