Official 240 Sundancer Thread

Sure ... I will start with this one ... This was the "money shot" from the previous owner!

Take more pics. Remember most of us are in freezing winter temps and we can live vicariously through you. Have a blast.

Getting ready to purchase a 2012 240DA. A couple questions. Has anyone installed a teak cockpit table aftermarket and can share pics/advice? Sea ray wants 1100 to do it post manuf. Has anyone installed a tv? Where did u get the tv/mounts and where in cabin did you install?

Hey guys, new to the thread and have a question. I have been trying to locate the fuse box or more importantly, I think I have found it but can't get it to open. In the bathroom there is a panel but I don't see any place with screws or a handle. Do I just pull on the panel and hope I don't break it? Any assistance would be appreciated! Thanks and I look forward to learning from you wise 240 owners :)

I have a 2006 240DA and would like to replace my batteries this year (2). My boat is in storage but I think my current batteries are exactly the same model. What do other 240DA owners recommend as a replacement?: battery type and brand. For example, I know there are starting and deep cycle batteries.... and there are AGM, Gel, etc. battery types. The place that stores my boat recommended 2 Interstate batteries 24MXHD which appear to be starting batteries.

Ideally, I am looking for no-maintenance batteries that can handle occasional overnighting (refrigerator, lights, radio); most nights the boat will be plugged in to shore power at a marina.

I have 2 brand new batts I bought for my boat but my boat got hammered by Sandy. Let me know if you are interested. They are Seahawk Marine Dual Purpose Batts. I have pics also. If you want send me your email I can send pics.

Some like em, some don't, but I like the Optima AGM dual purpose D31M's. I overnight alot during the summer so I have 2 D31M's in parallel for house loads, and 1 D34M as a starting battery.
I bought one of them in 2004, and yes it's still going. I don't do anything special to them. In fact I don't even charge them over the winter storage. Charging is handled by the stock Sea Ray installed chargers.

Actually I feel most any agm battery will do a good job, they are alot more expensive, but I like not having to check water levels, or do any maintenance.
That's my 2 cents for what it's worth.

Well, update. The 04 battery finally died. I have to buy a new one.
After going to the parts house, the price has been raised, imagine that. $230.00 for the D34M, and $285.00 for the D31M. Whew, that's expensive!

So I went into look for better price mode, here's what I found:
If you go to the Advance Auto Parts web site, they have a coupon code "FE11", that will give you 15% off, free shipping, and a coupon for $50.00 in store credit.
That brings the price of the battery to $145.00, can't beat that!
I bought one.

The coupon code ends Feb 16th, so if your on the fence, now is the time to consider them.

Do you all have two batteries, a house and a starter? I replaced my house side with 2-6V batteries in series and it's worked great.
Here are the 2-6V but the 12V is outboard of these.

Todd, your just showing off that bilge shot again!!!haha

Actually I have three batteries onboard. I parallel two Optima D31M's for house loads, and have a Optima D34M for starting.

I never drain the D31M's over night, so the starting battery never gets used really. It's an emergency back up.
Even after watching a movie, listening to the stereo, running lights, fridge, anchor light, and what ever else uses 12 volts, my house bank will still start the motor the next morning. AND I never have to check the water, or do any maintenance! Just pulling the old dead D34M out and putting in the new one had me cussing and throwing wrenches. haha

I thought about the same set up. That's a great one but elected to give the 6Vs a shot for a little less $$$.

Got my Optima battery in the mail yesterday so it's not a scam!!!!haha In my previous post I have been calling the D34M a D24M......sorry. I'll go back and correct the mistakes.

Hey all,

I'm thinking of trading my 185 Sport in on an 06 240 Dancer from my local dealer. Anything in particular that I should watch out for or take into account for my decision making? This boat has every option that was available in the 06, is powered by the 350 Mag. vacuflush, GPS/Charter, VHF, ect...

Thanks guys!

All I can say is read up on the handling characteristics of the 240da hull. If that doesn't scare you off, it is a good compromise boat. It does alot in a small boat. I have kept mine because it is trailered easy, and I can single hand it like a ski boat.
Actually if you take the time to read this entire thread, I think it covers most all of the quirks about this boat.
Enjoy........................................if your budget allows the 280da is probably the best starting point, in my opinion.
