Official 240 Sundancer Thread

Can anyone tell me the BTU rating for the Air conditioners they have installed on their 240 and how they perform?

My `08 has a factory installed 7000 btu unit. It works very well; even above 95*. It runs most of the time during the day but I think that's because the kids are in-n-out of the cabin all day long... lol

Thanks for the info. Looks like the options from the big names out there are 6000 or 9000. From my reading if I go to much higher it can be a negative so I will likely get the 6000 btu unit.

Thanks again.

Hey guys, this thread has been pretty dead so I figured I would share with you the storage container I added to my 240. The container is a plastic bin from the local hardware store and it is attached with marine latches. The latches are bedded with stainless screws and 5200, in retrospect I probably should have used 4200 instead.

When the latches are properly closed and locked the bin is very stable and does not move at all. At some point I'm thinking about getting rid of the lid and adding some sort of cargo mesh to cover the top. I'm a bit concerned that the lid could possibly slip off, so I always make sure the lid is properly closed and snapped down.

Thoughts?

it might help some 240 captains with bravo III :

i changed on my 2006 240DA the celery stick from the aft to the forward position and it seems to bring stunning results . generally she picks up on plane much quicker with less bowrise , seems after correct trimming to run more stable when on plane and further i think she has now less tendency to veer left and right at displacement speeds. - i did not expected an improvement on anything beyond bowrise .

a big thanks here to islandhopper who supported me via PM with experience on changing the trim limit insert !

best regards

Happy it worked for you aerobat77.
Celery stick= a ceramic like spacer, installed on the Bravo III outdrive trim ram pins. This spacer can be moved between two postions on the drive. The rearward position allows the drive to trim out farther. The forward position allows the drive to trim in farther.
The stock position is in the aft position. If you move it to the front, it helps with getting on plane, and low speed wander.

Any chance you can post a pic. I might try this my 240 is dreadfully slow to plane with 4 people full fuel and water

I just happen to have taken this over the weekend so I could remember the way it goes back together... now I'm gonna try it the other way.

little bit gave the correct picture. put the white "celery stick" infront of the shaft instead of behind and you will notice a difference.

you may want to recalibrate your trim indication on the smartcraft after installation according to smartcraft manual .

be careful - you MUST trim up briefly when she starts to plane out or you may force her into severe bowsteering . start with trim tabs fully up .

Hey everyone. I just put a TV in my '98 240 Sundancer and replaced the galley faucet and cabinet pulls.

Has anyone replaced the sink in the same model boat? I would love to know the exact size that fits. Thanks!

Seems like there are never any posts in the 240 thread........ I just installed a grill mount under my swim ladder hatch and was going to post a pic. For some reason every time i try to upload a pic there is a little exclamation point next to it and it wont upload...........

ok now i think I got the pictures to work.....

That's awesome. Although I can't do this because of how my ladder is mounted, it is a great idea that you only see the mount when the cover is up.

I know what you mean, it seems like the core group of people that were supporting this thread have moved on. Glad to see your post, the grill looks great! Currently, we mount our grill to a rod holder on the gunwale. I don't like my setup too much, as it requires dropping the aft Bimini in order to use the grill.

I have the same issue as Dez, my ladder is mounted underneath the nearly non-existent swim platform. I am thinking about mounting a quick release mount on the swim platform. I used one of these to add a cockpit table and have been extremely happy with it. http://www.garelick.com/Quick-Release-Table-Pedestal-System

Here's my grill set up, works really well.

Looking to add a shower to the swim platform, anyone with a 2006 or later have one? Would like to see where you have it installed

Great idea Jack F. I have been wondering how I am going to mount a grill on our boat. We just purchased a 2006 240DA but havent taken delivery of it yet. How does it work when you move the bimini top? Does it interfere with the grill? And what mount did you use?
