What oil filter do you guys use for the 496 mag? The one on there is Mercury but I was wondering if quicksilver makes one that I can use.
Napa 1060 (sfl31060, pfl41060) , Fram tg5 or xg5, carquest 85060.
I used the Fram TG5 most often since it is $6 at Wally W.
Does anybody know what the Allen key size is to take off the 496 motor cover that's on top of the engine?
06 270 SLX with radar arch, Currently swapping my 6.2 to 496HO, 6.2 suddenly shut down under power. was running sluggish last few times out, No warnings, buzzers or limp modes. No faults were stored in the computer either pulled the hoses on the bottom of the manifolds & not a drop of water in them either side. Marina was sure the outdrive failed but after removing it it was in fine condition. Anyone had an issue like this? Now for the 496 swap I’m trying to find what is the correct gear ratio and proper pitch for the bravo III, does anyone have rhis set up? Currently Have 22p props & 2.20:1 gear ratio.
Factory would have been 2.0 ratio and 26P props with the regular 496 (375 HP).
Has anybody replaced the factory clarion cmd4 head stereo unit. I'm curious if I can get a newer one that will work with the factory remotes that are on the boat
The remotes on the boat only work with that manufacturer, and if I remember correctly only worked to the cmd5 maybe. There was a thread of someone that switched to fusion and fished all new remote wires.
