Official 290 Sundancer Thread

Sold it. It went to Florida last week. I'm sure I'll miss it but right now I have to admit I am loving the feeling of having one less thing I need to take care of this winter. So, going to take a break for this year and re-evaluate my boating desires next fall and go from there. She was a great boat but time to have some fun doing other things. What's your new boat??

We did the same... took a little time out to ponder the next move. There's so many boats to choose from. The 290 was a great boat however, with 5 of us on board more often than not... we needed more space! After looking at hundreds of boats and shopping through an entire season... this suits us best... a 2002 3788 Bayliner sedan bridge. It sleeps 6 and has all the amenities for all year round boating (which we do).

Sorry for posting in the 290 thread fellas.
Not really the right place but I thought maybe if some of you make a change it's interesting to see what others do.
Cheers.
Cincy... just shy of 200 hours this year!

Has anyone put Tek Dek in their boat? Any advise or suggestions? I have to replace the carpet this year and wondering if it is worth the extra cost.

Just here to say hello. We just upgraded to a 07, ray 290, twin 5.0's, BIII's. 5.0 k Genny, Lowrance HDS chart/3g broadband radar/depth and fish + Humminbird down and side image sonar/ backup GPS and chart. Fridge/ice maker and blender topside. Best of all it has my fav...Blue gell hull option!! This is our tow vehicle (did I mention we limited ourselves to the ability to tow it to all of our fav lakes!) and our "other" Second home http://i626.photobucket.com/albums/tt350/Texas_Train/new house/SANY0316.jpg I will post pix of Ray soon as I get some uploaded to the photobucket! Here's our new to us baby http://s626.photobucket.com/user/Texas_Train/media/20131114_150243_zps3b12ac86.jpg.html

blu-ray. where did you put the ice maker top side? Good luck. It is a great boat.

Just a few more months until boating season... who else is ready?

This will be my 3rd full season with my 2007 290. The boat is *really* growing on my. The funny thing is that the main reason I went w/ the 290 was the "convertable" front berth, but now I wonder if the more traditional v-berth wouldn't have been better. It would certainly allow more seating below decks. Still, it's a wonderful boat.

FWIW: my list of upgrades: Updated to all LED lighting; Vetus Bow55 bow thruster; auto-level trim-tabs; Intellian Sat-TV w/ LG digital flat screen; replaced all batteries w/ AGM. How have you treated your baby?

I'm ready, but have a lot of work to do as soon as we get some warm weather. How do you like the auto-level trim tabs?
Question about inverters on 290DAs - does anyone have one installed? I just happened to notice last season when on batteries only my TV does not have power. So I got curious and looking around and don't think there is an inverter on my boat (seems odd). This means if my kids want to watch a movie when on the hook, I have to run the generator.

They work quite well... To be honest, I hardly ever needed to adjust trim, except when I had a large group of people on board. I also plane a bit faster, which is nice.

A TV and a small DVD player draw little enough that you could get by w/ one of those plugable inverters, from Radio Shack/Amazon/etc... They plug into the 12v plug and have a 120V output.

Just in the head... It's a small enough space that the cost was negligible. To replace the carpet, well... replacement carpet is ~$550 (+shipping).

I used a 400 watt inverter that plugged into the 12v accessory outlet (ciagrette lighter outlet) for a season. It works and powered the 15" zenith flat panel that came with my 05 300DA. Last season I changed out the TV because the 15" zenith also only had an analog tuner (also powered the analog to digital signal converter box off the 400w inverter).

Here's a link to the install and parts that I did for swapping out to a modern tv that operates off 12v and also has the internal digital tuner... so much more simple now. Turn it on and it works!

Nice work and thanks!

it usually sits on the deck just behind the helm seat / makes a good little stool when just sitting around at hook or beached. has a pretty solid top hatch to sit on but I put a folded beach towel there to soften it ?!?!? (this also puts me closer to the blender / wet bar for refills!!! ;0)

I just watched a video on the Lenco auto level trim tabs - what an amazing product. I wonder if it really reduces fuel consumption?

Some of the Sundancers had a "double" cabin door; it had a screen door along w/ the regular cabin door. My doesn't and I'm looking for something I could use as a screen door during the spring and cooler summer days. What have other people used, if anything?

That would be a tough one...probably easiest thing would be to make a frame to the dimensions and fit (with the door open), then add the screen. Could do it really basic or high end. Pine vs. teak....

jimjag. There is a door with screen for a 290 DA on ebay. They are asking $2,700 obo. I can tell you - being not far from you geographically, that we use ours at best 3 weekends a year. You may find you will use it more than us . . . but my two cents - not worth the trouble.
