So looked at a 98 today. A few scars, but some good bones. Cabin smelled like smoke to the admiral (a former smoker). I didn't really smell anything. Have another post about removing smoke smells. But a few questions:

1. Carpet runner replacement -- anyone online have the pattern? The ones on the steps have seen it's better days, starting to tear.

2. Front eisenglass replacement. The front panels just don't fit right. They actually look like they are for another boat as they have a rubber track at the bottom by the windshield (seems out of place).

3. Engine room access is awesome. Still need to loose a few lbs. to fit between them. :) But jumped down and could move around. I understand the side panels come out to reach the generator and such. Question is, is there enough room with them out to replace what is under there (genny, tanks, water heater, etc?) without removing an engine? How hard are the panels to remove -- one man job?

4. Small overhead light in the head -- It has dropped down. How is that mounted? Missing a screw?

5. Best refrigerator replacement for the cockpit ice maker?

Thanks in advance.

See below for the questions I can answer:

The ‘98 is the bet of the series IMHO. There are few ‘99s out there but hey are really just left over ‘98’s.

1. Carpet runner replacement -- anyone online have the pattern? The ones on the steps have seen it's better days, starting to tear.

I replaced the carpets on the steps with solid flame maple cover in Guam floor finish. (Non-skin satin finish.). Check the 370sundancer.com for some ideas.

When I bought my ‘98 the front eisenglass had shrunk making it difficult to fit. Those pieces had the rubber gasket you are referring to. Now after almost ten years, the replacement eisenglass has done the same. I just think it is the nature of the beast. The plastic shrinks and gets brittle too. Probably time for replacement.

The side floor panels come out pretty easy. You do have to remove the seat panels first to get good access. But luckily, you don;t have to do that too often. My come out when winterizing and in the spring when commissioning. Otherwise, they stay in place.
4. Small overhead light in the head -- It has dropped down. How is that mounted? Missing a screw?

Sorry, can’t help with the rest. Head lamp has stayed in place and I have kept the ice maker having developed a skill in minor repairs and upkeep.

Golfman25,

Try boatswains-locker. The 370DA was a Merritt Island built boat. Sea Ray did the canvas on the 95-99’s. Boatswains-locker did the frames only. They have some patterns as the owner’s of the boats found the patterns left from the factory on the boat. I think they have the ‘98, but give them a call.

They list the 1996 370DA, but be aware that the arch height was different from 95-97 and 98-99.

Just purchased a 1998 370 7.4 MPI 550 hrs, Pretty much original,

going through all the systems and changing all the bulbs to LED.
Finally got through the whole 370 thread. Lots of information Thanks. Just wondering if anyone has made it easier to access the storage under the Settee. moving both cushions and the plywood base any time we need to get in there is a hassle. Has anyone made access so you only have to remove one cushion and maybe split the plywood somehow? Would like to make it more user friendly. Yes that thing on the arch has got to go. There at one time was a TV dome mounted there that the previous owner took off. for now the radar will stay as even though its dated it works just fine and will still pick up sea gulls flying.
Thank You for a great thread!

Nice find. I see the PO took the striping off the hull and house. I've done my hull, the cabin top is next. I actually have OEM replacement decals and striping, but I doubt I'll ever put them on. Naples is a great place to have that boat, too. Nearly everything on the West Coast is within range.

Thank you.
I keep the boat in Algonac MI. I do not plan on hitting the salt just yet. Maybe some day, but for now wanted to be able to cruise great lakes and north channel. Using it as a summer cottage live aboard. Was originally looking for a 42/44 but my well wouldn't fit it and found the 37 has almost as much room without the added expense of a well upgrade and winter storage.
Has anyone removed plywood under the cushions on the settee. We don't plan on using it as a sleeping area and if we do can reinstall it. May try and mess with it some when I get back to MI.

I am guessing you are speaking of the mid cabin (the one in the back)? The 2 center cushions come out (no where to store on board), then the 2 pieces of plywood slide out towards the salon, and then the aluminum cross member lifts out. I store those 3 pieces under the port seat in there. They slide right in and lay on the floor of that compartment. Then I have 10 or so life jackets stored over them.
If you are speaking of the slide out board in the main salon settee, that can come out, and again be stored off the boat. Mine came without that slide out as we repo'd it, and some stuff was in the PO's garage.

Well it finally happened we sold our mainship 34 MY and took delivery of a 1996 370 DA. We are so excited after spending our first weekend on it a getting settled in. I am very happy I came across the 370 thread as there is a wealth of information here and it seems everyone so willing to help each other out. Doing the renaming ceremony this weekend. Looking forward to our first cruise.

I believe I have read thru all the posts here but don't recall anyone mentioning this topic. We have a 1997 370 Sundancer, have had it for 13 years, absolutely love the boat! We have noticed a little bit of water in the bilge (center at bottom of entry to engine compartment) , usually after cruising. The last couple of years it seems to be a little bit more and when at the dock. So I decided to really try and figure out where this might be coming from. Cleaned the bilge reel good and just watched. I noticed an ever so slight seepage or trickle right next to the center bilge. After a full day there was just enough water to cover bottom part of bilge basin. The bilge doesn't even run and once it reaches where the seepage is it seems to stop. Has anyone had experience with this? Does Sea Ray intentionally build a seepage area to go into the bilge? Seems odd but wanted ask. Once we pull it this year for storage I can get a better look at the bottom and come with a plan for this.

Have a similar sit'n on my 95 370 Sundancer, I thought it was caused by slight leak which I had on my Port Engine drive shaft seal (Tides Marine Dripless) but I changed the seal last week which stopped that leak. Now I'm seeing an occasional small build up of water iwo Stb'd bilge keelson area (Stb'd shaft seal is tight) so its not a seal problem. Just a small build up so I dry it up with rags and its good for a while then it comes back again, have checked all other possible sources inc'l hoses etc as was thinking it might a slight drip from the A.C. pump hose but can't see any leaks anywhere else. Only other thing I can think of is mayb'e condensation build up and sweating of engine comp't after the engines have been run for a while especially in these hot humid conditions we are having on great lakes this summer. Some neighbour boaters tell me I'm too fussy & that most boats have a bit of water in bilge all the time and the auto bilge pump will take care of it if it gets too high !!
Seems odd view to me, I want my boat to be tight as possible and not be relying on an auto bilge pump to stay out of trouble.
John; Beamsville Ontario.

Thanks for the reply. I plan to check all seals and thru hulls once out but yeah I agree I dont like having water in the bilge if it can be avoided. if anyone has an other thoughts, please let me know!

Had a generator leak on the pump shaft seal that would introduce water into the bilge, Not much but it was hard to see way back in the corner. Also Check Rudder Packings and cockpit drains. Had one clogged with Dog hair in the starboard back corner under the engine room access hatch.
