Official 370 Sundancer thread

Anyone have a good source for new propellers? I am thinking about getting an extra set, maybe upgrading to a 4 blade and keeping the original 18x21 3 blades as back ups.

I lucked onto a great set of four blade props on eBay for $250. (That's not a typo.). Fresh from servicing, the seller mislabeled them and I was the only bidder. You have to have great Google-foo and timing to come onto a deal like that. The four blade props have made all the difference in slow speed manuvering, but not noticeably faster onto plane (ok, maybe a little).

My boat came with the original two sets of props, so I have two spare sets. But if you can find a set of four blades for the right price, I would go with them.

I spoke to the owner of a propeller shop I trust, he told me that 4blade props would not be beneficial for my boat. He suggested that I stick with the 3 blade props that my boat came with.

Bubba,

If it will do you any good, I have an extra 4 bladed 18 x 20 DQX for the Port side I'll let go for a reasonable offer plus shipping. It has about 100 hours on it. One of the blades broke off at the hub for the Starboard side so I got a whole new set so I've got the port left over. I can tell you Gene from the RubberDuckeeToo2 got a fantastic deal at $250 for his set. I paid about $1000 for my set used from Marine Connection in Ft. Pierce, FL. If you've looked around you know what they cost new. If interested, drop me a note or give me a call at 727-599-8178.

[h=2]1996 370 DA - Fridge died![/h]
Hi, my husband and I have owned this 1996 370 DA Sea Ray for a couple years. The fridge that died is a Norcold DE-541 and is located in the galley. I have found some old threads recommending other brands over the Norcold and am leaning toward the Nova Kool. Any recommendations?

One thread indicated the sliding door to the cabin would have to be removed to get the new fridge inside the boat. I wondered if anyone can tell me how to remove the cabin door to get the new fridge down into the galley?

Appreciate any advice.

Thanks.
Sharon

Can someone give me a quick explanation on the two terms recently used...reversion and ingestion.?
I haven't heard of it before...but I'm also not a mechanic...:)
Thanks

For the record, the Gray CPVC water system tubing is 1/2" ID, 5/8" OD. Uses Sharkbite 1/2" fittings available at any Home Depot (and light years better than the old fittings).

Edit - So its done, replaced the entire shower faucet, hose, and handpiece with new Scandvik products. No drilling or alteration required. Also, per above, replaced those terrible FW fittings with sharkbite fittings. Also ended up replacing the shower sump with a drop in Rule 800gph shower sump (old one was frozen repeatedly due to years of shower not working). Whole apparatus works like a charm now.

tommyadrian5,

Where did you find the Shower faucet and Handpeice?
How did you know your shower sump pump wasnt working? Did you get water in your bilge where the sump is?

Thanks

I'll give it a shot. I believe reversion is when a pulsing in the exhaust system caused by an overlap in the timing of the opening and closing of the intake and exhaust valves creates a situation where water is drawn up hill in the system by the pulse and can enter the manifold and then the combustion chamber. Ingestion is caused by having long horizontal exhaust hoses connected to the elbow with not enough slope so that the water exiting the elbow and running through the low pitch hose can slosh back up hill into the engine when you back down from planning to fast. Hope this makes sense. Mark

Gene and Phil,

Thank you both. Gene, what pitch are you running on the 4 blades? I spoke with the rep from Michigan, he recommended going down to 18x20 vs the 18x21 3 blade on there now.

Phil, we narrowed my issue down to the starboard side, unfortunately the port side won't be needed.

I filed a claim with my insurance, Boat US, and will be sending them the estimate from my marina shop. Shop is recommending new props, alignment/inspection and sea trial before closing out the claim. Any further advise or suggestions?

Thank you both again.

Sharon,
I've got a 95 370, which should be the same setup as yours. My fridge died this winter and I just received the Nova Kool 5810 last week. I'll let you know if we need to remove the cabin door, but from what I've gathered from the forums and Nova Kool, the fridge should barely squeak though the doorway without having to remove the cabin door if you:
-take the trim and door off the front of fridge (easily unbolts)
-gently push in a freon line on the back of the fridge

I'm going to attempt mine in a week or so and will let you know how it goes.

That's what I did. Based on recommendations, up one blade, down one inch in pitch. So I'm running 18 x 20. It helped to come on that incredible eBay deal only a few weeks after talking with the prop guys. Just as Phil said, new blades are EXPENSIVE.

With all of that, the biggest difference I noticed was slow speed maneuvering. I can let the engines idle and the boat just goes into the slip. I can tootle around the marina using just the shrfts to turn without ever touching the throttle or the steering wheel. I couldn't care less about the top end since I'm no speed demon.

Sharon,

I successfully replaced the same Norcold unit on my 1997 Sundancer 370 with Vitrifrigo with an external compressor (allows more interior space in the refrigerator). It works great and you DO NOT have to remove the cabin door. See my post on 01-21-2014 in this thread for full details of getting the new refrigerator unit into the cabin. It's awkward but "doable" and way easier than removing the sliding cabin door. If you have any questions, let me know. I can also provide photos of the removal and installation. With an optional mounting bracket, the Vitrifrigo fit into the Norcold cut-out without any other modifications in the cabin.

Regards,

- Chip

Hello all

i also need to replace my frig (1996 370 DA) and like the Vitrifrigo 130 with the external compressor. Problem is: Where can I find one? Live in Nj

thank you

Ron

Ron -

Here is the contact I had at Vitrifrigo:

Dana Swanson
Sales Manager
VitrifrigoAmerica, LLC

Pompano Beach, FL 33069
P:(954) 979-7737 F:(954) 979-7740
www.vfamerica.com

Dana was super-helpful - describing all the details I needed to get the right unit, the extra installation flange, etc. I highly recommend the company - their customer service was great.

When it came time to buy, I learned that VF America only sells through a dealer network. I am located in S. Florida and was referred to Mabru Marine in Ft. Lauderdale to buy the unit. They too were helpful and prompt handling the order and getting the unit. I suggest that you contact Vitrifrigo and get the name of a dealer in your area.

I purchased the C130 external compressor unit for my 1997 Sundancer 370 and it's been keeping the beer, wine and food cool ever since. The C130 is very quiet - you simply cannot hear it running.

I bought my vitrifrigio through sure marine,it cost about $100 less shipped from them, make sure you order the oversized mount panel along with it.I had to make a oak picture frame for mine because the top at the back hit the liquer cabinet searay put in the countertop.I used 1" x 1 1/4" bullnose for the frame.

Got scandvik stuff from yachtsupplydepot.com. Let met know if you want the exact part numbers.

I knew there was something up with the shower sump since it had been blowing fuses for years, figured it just needed to be cleaned out but the pump inside was bad from being submerged for years so i just swapped the whole box out for a new one i got at WM. I think it cost about $100 and took 15 minutes to change out. Works perfectly now.

I need to know the wiper blade lengths for my boat, also any suggestions on where to get them.Mine are fried and the weather is supposed to get iffy for my 400 mile trip from the dealer to my home port next weekend. They are the ones with an acorn nut on them. Thanks Glen

Need to replace the exhaust water hose that goes from the center of the fiberglass tube to the muffler and then out the side (7.4 Bluewater) it's corrugated. Does anyone know what diameter that hose is ? Trying to order one now so I have it for the weekend and the boat is 1 1/2 hr away...Thank you...

I just bought a 2011 370 sundancer and am awaiting delivery. Trying to get the boat name lettering ordered but I need to know the size of the transom seat area as that is where the lettering will go. Can anyone give me the dimensions of the fiberglass on the transom seat and the area below the transom seat for the port of call? Much thanks!

Hello,
Searched the thread looking for 1997 370 DA owners manuals and found an old post from 2009 with a link to the Sea Ray site. They dont have the PDFs anymore for some reason. Anyone have them?

Totally bizarre. They have owner's manuals for many of the boats, but no 370 of any model year from '95 to '98! Here is the link to a parts manual:
http://www.searay.com/boat_graphics/electronic_brochure/Company1729/1C1_24_74DEIPR3E9G.pdf

and a general components section:
http://www.searay.com/Page.aspx/pageId/83090/System-and-Components-Manuals.aspx

i have a PDF of my owner's manual for the '98 which should be pretty similar to your boat if you need it. PM me and I will get it to you.
