Oh F*&@!!! Dropped my Fuel fill Cap!!!

A few years ago I bought the o ring assortment from Harbor Freight and one was a perfect fit.

I bought two spare fill caps for my boat (all 4 were the same), which pretty much guaranteed I'd never lose one!
 
Learned this lesson the hard way in 1986 with my new 300WEr. After I finally located a replacement cap, I always insisted on removing the fill cap myself and placing it inside the cockpit on the floor before the nozzle went into the fill pipe. I personally replaced the cap very carefully knowing how difficult it is to find a replacement with the proper threads. Having a spare is extra insurance. Losing a cap can spoil a vacation.
 
When I bought my boat only one of the fuel caps was attached so I ordered a extra cap from the local Sea Ray dealer and I'm pretty sure it was an Atwood. If I can find the invoice I'll post the part number.

Keep=in mind I'm diesel and the fuel fill is larger than the gas version. Supposed to be a 2" fill to accommodate the larger nozzles you see on some Diesel pumps.
 
I'll chime in here as I have been looking for the correct replacements for a while. I don't know about Dave's 2001, but my '98 Diesel came with fuel deckfills from a company named Marinium. They were bought by Perko. The thread is slightly different and the Perko "replacements" don't fully seat. I hope Dave has something different, but if anyone can source the Marinium version I would be very grateful. I made a post about this a couple years ago to no avail and have been too lazy to replace both deckfills... Somebody said their marina diver comes up with 20-30 a season, hell, I would love to see if they might have what I'm looking for too. Good luck, Dave!
 
Water at Bald Ridge is 30-40 ft deep and 54*. If its down there, it'll have to wait at least for the water to warm up for someone to go in after them!

I have the same ones. I also found the correct Perko part number to fit them. I have to dig through the spare parts on the boat to find it. I post back when I can find it.

I think the chain is a BAD idea. It basically leaves a heavy metal object hanging over the side of the boat.

But looks like Orlando posted a slightly better mouse trap with the Y springs and braided wire.

You will need a wet suit at any time, that deep is basically the same temp all of the time. Doesn't change but maybe 10°.

This time of year that is correct, but Souther Lakes or resevoirs tend to "turn over" is the summer where the top 20-40 feet of water gets pretty warm. I know my diver prefers to wait. Cant say I blame him! Wet suit, dry suit, nah!

This also has a lot to do with where you will find big stripers in these lakes during various times of the year.
