Hi - I am preparing to change the oil in my 2005 Searay 315/280 sundancer.
Can anyone tell me what is the best way to drain the old oil out of the engine.

The boat is a single engine is a volvo kad 300.
This may sound a dumb question but is it easier to suck the oil out via the district tube or is there a drain plug that is accessible.

Any tips and tricks welcomed.

Jon

I don't know your boat specifically but from my experience warm the motor up and suck it out.

I have a 280DA with twin 4.3's. Buy a good vacuum oil extractor and suck it out. I picked up a mityvac 7201 to use for the car and our boat. It works great!

Check under engine most have a drain hose attached to the pan you can stick through the drain plug hole and drain the oil out the back. My 300 DA had that setup.

i bought a west marine brand suction pump for about $95. used it the other day. worked perfect

I always suck the oil out from the dipstick as it's too hard to reach the drain plug. And even if I could reach it, it would make a huge mess when I removed it for an oil change.
