I have a 2008 260DA with a 350 mag engine with 110 hours and I keep finding this trail of green oil in the same spot. I had a local SR dealer look at it over the winter and they said I have a valve cover leak, which I had them fix. I have only used the boat a few times this year and the leak is back. I am finding some small residue on the valve cover, a small puddle on the fuel pump but I can not figure out where it is coming from. The gear lube usage is down a little but not much at all. The engine oil level is good. The gear lube reservoir isn't leaking. Any suggestions on what it can be? I am not a mechanic and rely on a Sea Ray dealer for all service work. But it would be nice to be able to have some sort of idea what the problem is before I take the boat in.

Find out if the dealer is using green engine oil first!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It`s gear oil .Either the res bottle ,the oil feed line,or the carrier seal in the outdrive.

I wanted to provide an update on this oil leak in case anyone else has the same problem. After two weeks in the shop, the Sea Ray dealer called to tell me the leak was engine oil and not gear lube. The leak was coming from the rubber gasket at the base of the oil fill tube. Last fall the same dealer said the leak was coming from the valve cover gasket and they replaced it for $1000+. This time the dealer said he was only going to charge me for the part since they should have found it the last time. The dealer said he has seen this type of leak 2 or 3 three times. Just a heads up if anyone has an oil leak and they are having trouble locating the source.
