So I fired up both the new engines on the ground today....4.3 vortec (1998)...
After dialing in for a bit I was very pleased...... Only one question I have is that one engine has about 40 plus psi at idle,
and the other is at 30 psi at idle....once revved up it goes right up to 40 or more... is this something to be concerned about? I called the manufacturer and he said there is quite a fluctuation from engine to engine and this was not an issue....
What do you guys think?

try swapping the senders and the gauges around one by one to see if the lower pressure reading follows one of them...if so replace that part...

if not connect an actual pressure gauge to the engines to verify or dispute the gauge readings.....30 psi at idle may not be anything to be overly concerned about if that is a true reading....

Was this with the engines at operating temp or still cold?
what oil and filter is in them, and what was the ambient temperature?

Engines warm.... 15/40 oil.... wix filters..... ambient temp was about 55 degrees....

I have different oil pressures on both my 4.3's. Bigger difference when cold then closer when warm. I posted before but that's dash gauges. I haven't done manual gauges. I wouldn't be concerned. Just watch them and you have a warranty if it becomes an issue.

On a warm engine, I think the 30 is more typical and the 40 is high at that viscosity and ambient. I would watch it during the season and make sure it doesn't steadily climb or max our above 60.
