Hi All,

was wondering what your oil pressure is for those of you who have
8.1 mercruisers..

there is 3 psi difference between my engines,

Port 44.5 psi and starboard 47.5 psi Although the smartcraft states that it is OK I can't find any reference to what they should be

curious to find out what your engines are reading

thanx

Mine run slightly different from each other. I've never seen 2 sets of gages that read exactly the same. Both of mine read around 45-48. I get a slightly higher reading when the engines are cold, and then lower as they warm up. I don't believe Merc publishes a particular number.

The gages are usually not the same. Mine vary only by one psi or less .. so veery little variation.

Twin 8.1S with 320 hours each. My oil pressures with Merc 25W-40 oil are:

39 - 40 psi cold idle,
40 - 41 psi hot running (between 1200 and 3800 rpm all the same pressure ... never looked at WOT 'cause I never run at WOT).
20 psi hot idle coming off plane and running at approx. 600 to 800 rpm which after a few minutes at idle goes back up to around 30 psi when you continue to idle on. Seems the oil cools down again and pressure goes up again.
