Another Newbie Question. The seller raised the Outdrive for towing and now I want to lower it. I've tried all the controls but nothing is happening. I must be missing something. should I turn the starter but stop short of starting the engine? turn to ACC position? I tried jumping the solenoids but nothing is happening. no clicks or hums. The left and right trim tabs are working.

What boat? What o/d? Should be able to put it up and down with just the batteries turned on. Might be a bad switch, but if you jumped the solenoid it's further down the line. Time to get the multi meter.

Hmm. The batteries are new and fully charged. The cabin, courtesy and engine compartment lights work. Is there another switch I should turn on to send power to the trim.

How are you trying to lower it?
Do you hear the pump running? Its on the port side by transom. If pump runs, is oil in reservoir?
Raising and lowering is totally independent of engine running. Batteries must be on.
Usually there is an inline fuse by pump, check that.

I hear nothing. As if no power is being delivered

Rog, i am not familiar with your particular model. The ones i know have a ‘trailer’ switch on dash. That only raises. On top of throttle is a switch. Called trim switch, that lowers.

this 2000 240 sundancer has two switches on the dash for the left and right trim and then a updown switch on the throttle

Those left right are your trim tabs. Ignore them for this exercise.
Focus on throttle switch. Push the switch on throttle toward you, back, towards transom,.

I’m not sure this would work for you, but I had that problem with my out drive last summer, I opened up the trim sender and limit switches and cleaned em up, put em back together, and it worked again.

There is reference to “new batteries “. Are so new they have been installed since the o/d was last used? If so insure the pump connections were reconnected.

Thanks for the reply but only the batteries were replaced the pump wasn't disconnected.

I meant I understand and will try that. Haven't yet but will try it tomorrow.
I've attached pics of the cockpit, control buttons, L/R trim buttons, and the Throttle
