My 2.6hp outboard. First half of throttle it gets and goes, but the 2nd half just doesn’t seem to make a difference. Fresh gas, new plug, starts first pull every time, idles smooth. These little engine cant adjust anything on carb except idle speed.
I use a lot of Stabil. It says 1oz per 10 gal. I dont have a way to measure a fraction of an ounce so i just dump 1oz per gallon. Could this much stabil be causing fuel dilution problem sapping the upper end power?

Carb sounds likely. If it's anything like the little lawn equipment, a complete brand-new carburetor won't cost anymore than a rebuild kit. And, since the carb has to come off to be rebuilt anyway, just swap and drop.

Thinking stabil cause i had water in gas issue 2 weeks ago. So i drained tank and carb then it ran fine. Then i added a sh1t load of stabil, and now the performance just not there. Will drain again tomorrow and add fresh gas with no additives and see what happens. This engine seems to be very particular about the fuel i feed it, worse than my cat.
Thx for reply.

All you need is a splash of stabil, or you could try Seafoam or the Lucas Oil Fuel Treatment. I use ethanol free fuel, 91 octane and no issues (I do put a splash of the Lucas oil fuel treatment in it though). Problem free in my 9.9 Merc (carb) and 15hp Suzuki (EFI). Both motors I leave the vent on the gas tank slightly open so it doesn't swell up.

I work from home last 2 years. Corporate down in Jacksonville. Here Raven helping me work. I was always a dog person, cockers, Irish Setters. But Raven won my heart.
She was a tiny kitten outside local bar on cold rainy night in December 2012, skinny stray, hadn’t eaten in days. We took her home. She hit the lottery.
So i tell y’all who read this. Before you spend hundreds on purebred, rescue a stray. Dogs cats horses whatever. Just do it. They will give you love like you cant imagine.

Yeah, dog person here too. My mom always had a cat or two when I was growing up. Didn't much care one way or another. However, she had one big (not fat) Siamese that I really liked. I think he must have been part dog, the way he acted.

So, now that we've thoroughly hijacked this thread (even though it's yours), I'm waiting with bated breath to hear how the fresh, non-stabilized gas works.

If it is meant to run on 87 then try it with just that. It has a built in tank right? Just put in what ya think it will use or turn it upside down when your done and dump out what is left if planning to stow. Those little motors need every btu you can feed them if you are looking for any kind of performance out of them.

I am gonna stop with all the additives. Boat only sits 4 months. I had a winter beater that sat in yard from April to November and never added anything to it.
Question. What is better in a blizzard than a brand new F350 4 wheel drive diesel? A $200 beater you really dont care if it slides into a guard rail and keeps on rockin.

I had a $60k Ram. We did NOT go out and play in the snow in that truck, no matter how badly I wanted to!

Ok, wasnt gonna but you asked. Sittin in a local bar one winter Tuesday night. Nasty night, too cold snowy for anyone with a brain to be out but there we were, young barmaid and me, daughter of a good friend of mine. She says she joined the army, had this old car, her dad wont put at his house and she had to unload it quick.
I say how much? $200. I say radio work? Heater? Hows tires? Yes, yes, new. Sold. Give her cash right there. Want to see car? No, bring title tomorrow. She says the passenger side is caved in from a wreck. Dont care, sold. 1991 Olds Calais. I had that car for 6 years as a winter beater, couldn’t kill it. I miss that car.

As they said in Animal House “dont stop him he’s on a roll”. One winter night we had a fancy Christmas party for the wife’s company downtown at the Sheraton back when companies still did that. Snowy night (when we had those in MD) wife says what we taking? The beater. So we attend, me in tux her in gown, we pull up at the Sheraton valet cars all lined up, limos, etc, you seen the movies. We get out of this side caved in winter beater all dressed up. I flip the keys to the valet and say “don’t dent it”. I thought the wife was gonna piss herself laughing. Good times! You cant make this sht up.

I really really REALLY miss my Mariner/Yamaha 2hp 2stroke. You could submerge those, pull the cord, they would fire up. Could push 6 people in a zodiac from boat to shore. Weighed about 15#, fit in hanging locker. I miss that lil thing.
