How do you store your boat outdoors in central Florida when a covered shed or garage is not available? What is the best way to store a 22' deck boat outdoors? The boat has bow and cockpit covers but I'm worried that the intense Florida sun will destroy the exposed gelcoat! I'm also worried that just throwing a plastic tarp over the entire boat will promote mold growth on the hull and the vinyl seats. What is the best solution?

Well Damp Rid will take care of the mold worries.

If it will fit under this, I use one for my RIB. Buy the insurance policy (25 bucks) because you will replace it a couple of times a year. Ian got my last one last week. I Gorilla tape the pole ends and put the legs into concrete blocks to try and hold it down during our squalls and hurricanes. I cut this one down in height to reduce windage exposure. Worked ok until the eye came over........

That's a great idea, but I think I'll go with a Sunbrella full cover. The Chaparral is 22' and I don't think my community will allow this type of cover in the free boat parking area. Thanks to everyone who responded.

Don't sell the sealskin option short. The are great and they can custom fit them to your boat. Good luck either way.

OK I will most likely go for the Sealskin cover because the price is right, and the boat MUST have a full cover here in Florida. Also, I think I'm paying top dollar for the boat, but that's OK because it is EXACTLY what I have been looking for. Super clean, low hours (295) on the Merc 5.0 MPI, 100% fresh water boat. So I won't have a lot of extra $$ for things the boat needs, like a new SS Mirage prop ($700) a new bimini top ($650) and a few other little things.
