Ordered a replacement oil dipstick tube for the B1 engine I am preparing to install and have a small issue. There is some kind of ferrule crimped on the tube that won't allow me to slide the nut down to the threads of the elbow that exits the oil pan.
The old tube does not have this ferrule so the nut can slide freely down to the flare and attach to the elbow.
With this new tube I'm a bit puzzled as to how this is supposed to connect seeing as the distance from the flare to the ferrule looks to be 3 or so inches.
I can Dremel the ferrule off if need be but this is a Merc factory part. Just curious if I'm missing something significant because I didn't notice anything in the drawings when I ordered my parts.
Could someone provide a pic of how this tube connects to the oil pan?
