How can I put a picture of my boat in my signature?

You have the right idea (with the IMG before and after your url) but your link has to be a jpg or gif file and the picture must be linked from another site. If you need a free place to upload your pictures so they can be linked, try photobucket.com.

To add to what Dave said, Photobucket works real good, highlight the address, right click, copy, come here, right click and paste, done.
