Thinking about switching over to a Piranha Prop.
2008 185 Sport, 190hp 4.3 Mercruiser.
I live in shallow, brackish water with sandy bottom, so the prop will see some "sand time".
Will this be a problem for the Composite Prop??
Are there any "bad" experiences with the Piranha, everything I have seen has been positve for the most part.
thanks,

I don't think it will be as durable as an aluminum prop, but you can swap out a blade and be right back on the water. I'm not sure what a blade costs, or how much a piranha costs, but it's around $60 to have an aluminum prop refinished around here. That's assuming fairly minor damage to the aluminum prop. Either way, you'll need some spares if the water is that shallow where you boat.

I don't have experience with that prop, but something else to be aware of (which you may already be know). If your prop is going to see sand, then so is your engine. Which means your impeller will wear out quicker and there's a good chance you can actually get sand lodged in the cooling passages in the block. Just an FYI.

I am curious to see what other's opinions are.
