I have an alarm which indicates I have a PITOT Fault. Well last fall my gauges seemed to be acting up so I had my service guy check them. Now I get this fault and I am not sure I have a PITOT sensor! Does anyone know how to determine if I have this type of sensor or just a paddlewheel for my speedometer?

The pitot sensor is inside the outdrive, and is used to determine your boat's speed. I'm sure someone will chime in soon with pictures of which holes to check, but the usual problem seems to be that the holes got clogged from beaching or grounding, or something growing in them.

If you have V-Drives (as stated on your signature) it must have the paddlewheel. Pitot is in an outdrive.

Do you have a speed reading on your speedo? If not, the sensor selection in Smartcraft probably just needs to be changed form Pitot to Paddlewheel.

Sorry about my first post - I didn't see that he has V-Drives. I obviously need to pay more attention.

Thanks guys that certainly clears it up. I can go into Smartcraft and change the setting.
Thanks again.

or you can possibly change to monitor speed via gps setting...I have a pitot and also had the fault-- never used it though.
