Polarized Sunglasses vs Sea Ray Windshield

Last summer when the admiral and I were taking our newly acquired Sea Ray to the Chesapeake I noticed a pattern of spots appearing on the windshield while wearing my favorite Costa Del Mar sunglasses. The admiral bought me a pair of Maui Jim glasses in the attempt to fix the problem, but these generate a similar scene of artifacts across the windshield. I assume this means there is a polarized tint in the windshield glass that creates the effect when wearing polarized sunglasses. Is the fix as simple as wearing only non-polarized sunglasses?
 
Yep most boats are like this. also interestingly enough, on both my Baja boats, the Center windshield that was a walk through was not, only the main parts and sides.
 
I believe because its tempered glass, I see that on car windows also.
 
It's due to the tempered glass and it happens with car windows too. See this picture of a window photographed with a polarized filter:
