Port engine will start but once I put it into gear stalls all my electronics shut down as well. My ship to shore radio says low voltage battery. The engine will not start after cranking it for 15 minutes. Then it will start. It happened last week and I checked all of the batteries and replaced the one that was weak. Batteries have 12.7-12.8. Any ideas?

Sounds like a fuel issue. Clogged line/filter. Or possibly vapor lock, since issue seems to resolve itself without you doing anything. Less likely would be bad fuel pump.

I went from dock (engine fired right up) and threw anchor down and stayed there for about 3 hours with genie running. Picked up anchor and started both motors (they both fired up) put them into gear and port side stalls, can't start it. Make my way back to dock on one motor after 20 minutes port side starts and goes into gear. Same thing happened last week I thought it was battery and replaced it with a new one. Obviously not battery.

Doesn’t sound like a fuel issue either. Try moving the ICM from the good engine to the troubled one. See if the problem follows the module. This is a common problem with the older Thunderbolt system. Once the module gets hot it will act up. I had a friend who had this, he would pack his in ice to get home.

IF this turns out to be the issue don’t replace the ICM replace the distributor. I used a DUI marine 4000. It removes the system and coil. Good Luck and please keep us informed

I didn’t try the ICM but replaced the starter and alternator and still giving me problems I just don’t understand how it can get hot when I start it up after 3 hours on anchor yet as soon as I start it it won’t start happened again today very frustrated after 15 minutes it started
