My wife's job might take us to Houston, besides being hot, what else should I be thinking about boating in texas / gulf? Would be coming from LI sound.

thanks,
Dave

Dave

Wife and I are here in Houston and could talk hours in this subject.

Positives:
Year round boating, December-February can be cold but not bad on certain days

Cost is amazing from fuel to slips, it's about the best in the USA.

Negatives:

Water is not beautiful, every shade of brown. Fact is this is a working port and the Mississippi doesn't help.

Due to the port operations and gas wells you have to take time to find where you like to go and what you like to do but I assure you won't have the biggest boat around here and it's a BUSY place.

Shoot me a PM I'd be happy to share my feelings. I am in sales so I travel all over the area as well.

From an affordability standpoint Houston area can be great. The weather is particularly good for boating and any outdoor activity.
We got tired of the shallow and brown water and moved our boating inland to lake Travis It's has deep and clear water and allows us to experience some of what the Texas hill country has to offer.
