this is a silly question that I am almost ashamed to post....

does anyone know how to pour the entire contents of a bottle of STA-BIL like the one below into the gas tank filler pipe on a boat?.....I have to constantly squeeze the bottle to get the liquid out...there has to be an easier way.....

Open the cap on the right side, not the left..

I thought i had tried that but i'll try again.....I am filling the gas tanks for the winter this WE and want to add some STA-BIL to the gas.....

thanks....

If I'm understanding what you're saying, you're opening the cap on the left side of the picture and having to squeeze it though. Opening the other side will pour it directly in.

if you use the side with the long neck, just keep the the bottle perpendicular to the ground (90 degrees counter-clockwise on the pic) and squeeze the entire contents out. Just gotta keep liquid at the pickup (bottom left, on the pic). Funny you ask this cuz i just figured it out myself....goofy setup.

yes, that is correct....I just want to pour the entire contents into the fill pipe....so I will leave the tall spout closed and open the short spout....

thanks...

The design is a PIA for sure.

Cliff,
I'm disappointed that you will need gas stabilizer this winter. I intend to burn 2-3 tanks over the next 5 months.

Yeah Cliff, maybe you should let Jim and I help you with this gas situation, we have a plan that doesn't require any stabilizer...

this fill up probably won't last all winter.....this will be the first full winter we have the boat so we really don't know how much fuel we will burn.....but I always ad Sta-bil with each fill up......

I get the distinct impression that your plan would cost me a lot of money.....:wow:......

Use the diesel formulation of Startron - 1oz treats 32g.

Plan one shot for the gas takn, one shot crown royal for the person pouring.

Hey Lake Norman people, I have a house on the lake with dock rented on Oct. 30 - Nov. 1.......maybe see you! (Coming down for the Monday Night Football Game Nov. 2).

Shotgun style: open the stubby cap, tip fully into funnel placed in fuel port, then snip a corner off the bottom/opposite end of the bottle. WHOOSH.
If there's any fluid left in the measuring, move the long nozzle over the funnel without tipping the bottle, then open that cap and you may not even have to squeeze it.

(In case you do want to use only a portion/keep the bottle intact: if there's a way to shake/manipulate the bottle to empty the long nozzle/measuring side first, even better. Open the stubby cap over the funnel, then open the other cap--that might release enough of the vacuum to let the fluid flow freely)

If your fueling with valve-tech like most marinas have, all that stabilizing is already in their mix

Where is the house? Cliff should have plenty of gas to get us there...
