The screen manually scrolls paper maps that are attached to a cable that similar to a modern mechanical speedometer. Thus, the scroll rate of the map is proportional to vehicle's speed.

“Iter” means journey or path in latin.
Auto, as in English means automobile or automatic.

Thus iter-auto should mean automatic path

PS: Latins used “V” in place of “U” :wink:
