Hi Guys,
Which would be the best suited prop for my application in my weekender 23 with the Bravo 454 The searay web site says 17 mirage. Lots of props have come out since.
Any recomendations?
Looking at a good allrounder which may give me 50mph

i don't think 17 pitch is enough prop if your weekender is any thing like my "88" 230 weekender. i have weighted mine twice with trailer and full fuel, weighting around 6500 both times. cant tell you what trailer weights but guess at 1000 lb or so

i ran a 3 blade aluminum 17 pitch with a 1.50 to 1 gear alpha. at 7000 ft. not sure what your elevation there is but guessing its lower.
i ran a 19 pitch x 15" mirage II or a smaller diameter 4 blade aluminum 19 pitch at 6000ft and a 21 pitch mirage II and 4 blade aluminum at 3600 ft and 1100 ft. i was a little under pitched at 1100 ft.

i found that the mirages ran about the same as the aluminums because of the diameter and they are both cuped.they are also vented but i never messed with the vents and left them closed.

the best i could get is 43 gps mph. i got this every where but 7200 ft and higher. the only difference at the lower elevations was its quicker to plane ant get to speed but didn't get any higher speed

Hi Garry,
Thanks for the info. I am in the progress of installing the 454 over the next couple of weeks here in Australia. And have several props to try from a high 5 16P, Enertia 16P, Mirage 16P. Not sure what would be best suited. I feel that possibly should look at running 21P prop. I will keep you posted.
Can you please send me a couple of photos of engine sitting in hatch as I have some concerns with the engine fitting in mine. As you have posted in the past Im also looking at building a reserve tank @100L which willgravity feed into existing 270L when required.
I have relocated the 270L tank 6" + forward to allow for the engine to fit.
email address if required is anthony@aazeng.com.au
Your help ismuch appreciated.
Regards
Anthony

Thanks and thanks for the email. I have replied with some pic of my own.
I'm fitting this new SS exhaust which will provide some additional space.
Additional more hp approx 10% and fuel economy. they set me back $3k AU but
zero maintenance.
Let me know if I can help with anything
