Okay, this is my first post.... The boat is a 2000 Searay 340 SD with 7.4 Horizons with V-Drives.. Question -- What is the acceptable clearance between the front of the propeller and the back of the strut? The shaft is 1.5 inches in diameter... I have read that the minimum should be 1/2 of the diameter (.75") to a max of (1.5")... The boat has about 1/4".. I was told that it is too short and the flow of water would not lubricate the strut (cutlass) due to engine movement.....

If this is true, are there any alternatives other than replacing the shaft?
Modified Prop? Spacer at the Vdrive Flange? Any thoughts?
