So I dropped my BMW in for service, it was running rough. The dealership tested the gas and said it was 13% ethanol. They did replace the spark plugs. I guess I need to find a new gas station. QT is right next to my work, so it is convenient. I always run premium fuel. FYI, for the boaters who trailers.

If there is one thing I do know and that are BMW's. For my cars I also stay with a top tier gas station, for my boat I use an app called PureGas. It searches all local gas stations for no ethanol gasoline. I have the luxury of taking gas buddies to my boat instead of paying 4.75 a gal for marine gas and the Puregas app helps a lot.

One of the bigger misunderstandings is that premium gas has no or lower ethanol. Most 93 octane "premium" gas starts as 90 octane gas that has high octane ethanol added to it to reach the advertised 93 octane. I guarantee they are putting max ethanol in the gas we buy. The gas the OP got was likely not properly mixed.

We still have ethanol free gas out here.

At all, Sav-On - Fastrac - Byrne Dairy & Nice N Easy gas stations . :smt038

On the water,Marion Manor Marina and at the other marinas that the Indians own on the lake.

Must be nice. The 2 closest marina's wtih non ethanol are charging $5.63/gallon and $5.81/gallon. I barley can get non ethanol at a roadside station for $4.67 and then I have to haul it to the boat.

Around here (Knoxville, TN area) Quicktrip now sells 3 types of gas (E85, 87 octane with ethanol, and 91 octane zero ethanol). I exclusively buy their zero % ethanol gas for my 5 series BMW. Prior to that I was buying 93/92 octane gas from other places and my car was having serious issues with it. When at a red light the RPMs would flucuate about 500 RPMs almost to the point of dying. I took it to the dealer who told me it was the gas. I couldn't imagine that was the case, but I did as was told and made the switch to 100% gas. That is about 1.5 years ago and haven't had the issue since (no other adjustments made or service done other than oil change). Ethanol is evil. Luckily all of our marinas have 100% gas as well.

There was a huge uproar within the last year or two where car companies were voiding warranties on cars that used E85. Here in Atlanta I did see a Race Trac station that had E85. I wouldn't use it my car, boat, Harley or lawn equipment.

Mixing can be a real problem. The Shell station on M-104 sold 100% ethanol to a lady who was able to drive for about a block before her engine died following a fill up. Made the front page of our small town newspaper. Not sure what caused the mix up but someone's insurance paid for a new motor. We do have several sources of ethanol free fuel in west Michigan. It's is the norm at our marinas along the west coast of the state. The local Citgo advertises and sells ethanol free premium gasoline. I use that in all of my garden equipment after seeing numerous problems with other fuels.

Luckily I have a station close by that has non-ethanol. That's all I fed her last year....

I was surprised the pump said 10% ethanol. Interesting it was not blended very well. Off to find ethanol free fuel.

And on top of it all, we pay an extra 10 cent tax per gallon for NOT having ethanol in our gas, above all the other taxes...

Thanks David, I downloaded the app mentioned above. The closest fuel without ethanol is 55 miles away. I am in the metro St. Louis area.

Well this thread prompted me to start looking into it. In ohio the gas with ethanol is not even required to be labeled. Everything I own is older so it's in my interest to be ethanol free. No such luck. Closest one I found, according to the app, was 30 miles away. Add the 30 miles (I'm at work) to my house and I'm 60 miles away from good gas. Damn. I wonder if I can get it delivered if I had on-site storage. hhmm.

They fill it once a month.

If you know a farmer out there ask him where he gets his gas from.

Luckily we have a BP right near our house that has ethanol-free gas. We never ever ever use ethanol gas in our boat!

Out here all the newest Quicktrip gas stations sell non-ethanol. I think it is 87 octane. That is what I put in the Whaler. I am stuck with marina gas for the Sea Ray. I would never put E85 in anything I own even my wife's Tahoe that is flex fuel. The poor fuel economy you get when running it negates the cost savings not to mention the damage it could cause. My truck does run better with pure gas than E10 but I only see a 1-1.5 mpg difference if any at all.
