Raw water pump leak...

I suspect my seals are gone on one pump as there is rust stain under the pump. Will take a closer look to confirm when I get a boating day.
I am up to replacing the housing rather than replacing the bearings and seals. Just want to know how difficult it is to get the pulley off the old and back on the new housing???
Also, I see a lot talk on the Hardin pumps. Some good, others bad. Suggestions??

Thanks all!

I recently went with brand new Merc pumps that have the stainless steel end plates. Too many unhappy people with the Hardin pumps from what I could see and they appear to have lower water pressure.

New pump is 450. Buy 2 put new ones on both engines and keep the old as a spare after you put new impeller in it. When you find one of the new ones has a worn out impeller but the old one in and then put new impeller in the one you took out. Putting in a pump is a lot less work in the middle of the summer than rebuilding one on the boat when every one else is having a good time. When one eventually has seal failure you will have a spare. When you use up your spare by another new one. That is what we have done for many years. I had one fail on way home from Alaska once and had to wait for 4 days to get a new one. Freight is not cheap in some areas.
