Just purchased a 2004 Sea Ray 340 Sundancer. Equipped with Raymarine C80. I can't get the GPS to activate? Top right hand corner shows GPS icon with red slash thru it. I do not have a SD card installed- not sure if that's why its not activating. Any pointers?

Think of it as your C80 is just a display. It has nothing to do with gathering GPS signal. It uses the GPS signal after it's being retrieved by GPS antenna, which should be a small looking mushroom up on the radar arch. Google "Raystar 125" or "Raystar 130". You might even have older 120 version.

To make sure you're getting GPS signal, your GPS antenna (the "mushroom") should have indicator lights. Anything other than flashing green means you have an issue. Check your manual for other light codes (Yellow/Red).

BTW, are there any other equipment display GPS status?

Also, C80 has a menu where you can navigate to check the GPS signals. It's easy to find in the manual.

I've seen some installations where the GPS was powered by its own switch like the accessory switch and some times powered by the master switch for the autopilot.
