What?
Here's what it means, 27% of beds have Covid patients, 30% of beds are empty, and 43% of beds are occupied by other patients.
Here is the math:

Here's what it means, 27% of beds have Covid patients, 30% of beds are empty, and 43% of beds are occupied by other patients.
Why so argumentative about math? Here is the math:
Total beds available: 1,144 beds available of 3,764 - that means that there are 2,620 beds occupied.
1,018 COVID Patients occupying 3,764 staffed ICU Beds
That means that 1,018 of the 2,620.
According to my calculator, 1,018 divided by 2,620 x 100 = 38.85%
So 38.85% of ICU patients in IL are COVID patients. And that is exactly what I said above.

My math is correct. Your math may differ. Clearly it does.

You went through your calculations to 'clarify empty'. Those beds can be in one of three states....available, occupied by covid patients, or occupied by others. If 27% of beds have Covid patients and 30% of beds are empty, then the remaining 43% of beds are occupied by others. Again...the subject is 'beds'.

Well our fat a$$ cork soaking Governor just put in place all sorts of new "mitigations." Forcing employees at my small business to wear masks "at all times" -- ie; when alone at your desk in your office. Requiring employees to work from home -- impossible in our business. No visitors, regardless of precautions taken. It just never ends with these people. How about, I'll do what makes sense and works for my business and my people.

What about the governors of the 26 states that have republican governors and also have COVID restrictions? I guess they should all be impeached too? Guys, this is not a political disease. Get over it and figure out how to minimize the spread and resultant deaths until vaccination can catch up.

You all are saying what you don't want done, but not a single one of you have articulated what you would do if it was your decision. And if your decision is " let the people decide for themselves", then articulate how you will manage the overloaded hospitals and the increased deaths that will result. The countries that have re-initiated strict lockdowns have flattened the spikes. ITs painful and awful, but it works. So if your answer is you would just open up and let it ride itself out, explain with some details how you, as the Governor from the internet, will explain to voters in your state that you have decided to stop all restrictions and what the master plan is. I think if a current governor were to do that, that Governor might be the one to be impeached. That is why they are doing what they are doing. Trying to find that balance of two "no-win" alternatives.

I guess they should all be impeached too? .
You need to read up on the Gretchen...as a business owner I have a vested interest in how this incompetent dictator tries to control Michigan and I don't approve ..along with the Michigan courts.... She needs to be fired

That may be completely true, but those that are piling on and linking it to COVID shutdowns and mitigation plans are highjacking and diluting your valid issues. The more they do that, the less likely they will get broad enough support to make any change. But you do have an election coming I presume (as fraudulent and corrupt as it will be).

It's pretty simple. Apply logic and be consistent. Such as:

"non-essential" retail closed -- "essential" liquor and weed stores open
Outdoor gatherings bad -- Protests and looting good
Restricting travel from China bad -- restricting travel to NY/Chicago Good
Sitting in your house with family of 4 good -- sitting on your boat with family of 4 bad
Outdoor transmission is rare -- so lets close down outdoor activities, beaches, parks, and now if you're in LA, outdoor dining.
Don't do the xyz -- while "leader" does xwy. Here's looking at you Pelosi, Mayor of Denver, Newsome, both Cuomos, to name a few.
I could go on and on, but you get the point.

What do yo do? Actually it's pretty simple.
1) Hard lockdown on elderly facilities. Keep it out of nursing homes. But develop some way to keep residents engaged with their families.
2) Isolate elderly and unhealthy with co-morbidities. Use National Guard and such to supplement local agencies to provide food, support and whatnot to them.
3) Add additional healthcare treatment facilities -- why they took down some of the field hospitals is unbelievable.
4) Support early outpatient treatments even if pushed by politicians you dislike. Early use of hydroxyclorquine, vitamin D, etc. may help more than they hurt.
5) Supply households with infected members N95 masks to reduce spread inside households.
6) Work with restaurants on outside dining options. Figure out best practices to keep indoor dining an option in cold climates.
7) Work with businesses on best practices -- work from home, spacing, capacity limits, etc.
8) Most importantly, understand the negative effects of your policies and try to mitigate those effects as best as possible.

From what I can tell, most of what is on your list is exactly what State governments are doing. A couple exceptions:
1) This is being done in most places as I understand it, but in many States it is being resisted. Why, I have no idea.
2) who defines that is "unhealthy with co-morbidities"? Sounds simple but are you suggesting everyone with high blood pressure or overweight gets isolated? What about their freedoms? Your idea of using the National Guard is a good one, if its needed.
3) I understand the the field hospitals were taken down when rates of COVID declined. I presume they will be put back up if needed.
4) You are welcome to have your non-medical view of what should be in early treatments. For me, I ain't taking hydroxyclorquine or vitamin D. Not because of any political view, but because the medical profession does not say its effective. The medical profession around the world is not sitting on some magic drug/vitamin that can solve this. If there was such a thing it would be in use. I know the US system has layers of potential bias by big pharma and big hospitals to prevent simple solutions, but the rest of the world with nationalized health care does not have the same issue.
5) Good idea. I hope this is being done. I think it is in most places?
6) This is being done
7) This is being done
8) This is what is being done. All Governments, Democrats, Republicans, Socialists, Conservatives, Labour Parties, etc. Everywhere in the world this is being done. Its a very easy thing to say, and very hard to do.

I am certain you are not well informed about actions in the USA. For example:
1) Nursing home lockdowns aren't being resisted. What is being resisted is not having a plan to allow the elderly contact with their families. (the second part of my answer)
2) Unhealthy/co-morbidities is defined by "the science." Just look at the stats -- that will tell you who needs to be protected.
3) Field hospitals are not being put up, except for a few places. The ones that where up, should never have been taken down. The one in Chicago has no plans to open back up.
4) While there is no magic bullet, you fight with the bullets you have. Your view of "the medical profession" is narrow -- there are plenty of doctors who think these cheap, early treatments can accomplish something. It is within you rights to refuse to take it, no problem. But why should a governor have a right to prohibit me from taking it? That's the point.
5) Households aren't being provided with N95 masks. Can't get them anywhere.
6) They are not working with restaurants. LA just closed down all OUTSIDE dining. There is no science to justify that prohibition. Here, in IL many inside restaurants have retooled with barriers, etc. only to be told to once again shut down.
7) They are not working with other businesses. IL Governor just tried to severely limit manufacturing without any justification at all.
8) And No they are not attempting to find solutions which would mitigate the damage to business and jobs. That's why people are revolting. For example, early on there was no justification to close down regular retail stores down while Walmart remained open. None, zero, zip. If they cared one iota about the effects of what they are doing, they wouldn't have the problems they do. Instead, they live in their little bubble -- rules for thee, not for me. So they wander off to Napa for a large dinner, or go to a salon without a mask, you tell you to forego Thanksgiving while they hop on a plane, etc.

Seems the country is doing a real shit job handling Covid-19 the worst in the world. Most cases most deaths and floating around like a rudderless ship. Until there is leadership to unite the states and the Feds to all be playing by the same play book it's not going to get any better.

You have a lot of arguable points in there..... To keep this on a Witch Whitmer topic...do you think she is doing her job uniting the state of Michigan..... uniting the states will never happen when it comes to politics....remember the feds don’t control the states
The Feds controlled the borders and Trump did a horrible job he still has not secured the borders plane loads of foreigners are landing daily with no healthcare checks its a joke.
History is going to decide if she has done a good job. If you look at it from a financial standpoint the entire country has done a horrible job.

Seeing as you received a non answer, I’ll answer..... NO.

Nice headline.... left Gretchen out of it. How in the world do you take peoples livelihood away... not compensate them and we are suppose to swallow it ?.... yet Lowe’s, meijer stay open.... if this isn’t a dictatorship...what the hell is?

Michigan's order to restrict gatherings and close businesses extended 12 days
