Wanting to remove the carpet from the floor in the salon. Going to replace (hopefully) with some luxury vinyl this winter.

Seems like the multi tool worked the best for most I have read about. what blades did you have the best success with or did it matter?

Thank you!

I bought the tool and the blades based on a recommendation from CSR.

I'd say I used the blades pictured below 75% of the time with the other 25% being normal straight blades (I think Dewalt calls them "wood w/nail" or something).

Buy several. They do dull and having them sharp/new makes a big difference in the effort required.

Thank you for the response! What’s your guess as far as blades used, I bought 3 of the large half round blades and 5 of the straight blades

Also, how many hours did you have in removing the floor carpet. I am planning on the wall and stair carpet down the road

That sounds about right. The straight blades definitely dulled more quickly but those are the ones you use in the tricky spots. So sharper is better. I doubt I went through more than 5 of those. Two or three of the round ones also sounds right. I also had a hand scraper with a "hook" on it, got it from Lowes. That was helpful reaching under the cabinets and in areas where the osc. tool won't fully reach. Ohh and a razor, of course.

Mine came out much easier than I was expecting. I think 5-6 hours total over two visits to the boat. It can be highly variable though. Where (and how much) glue they threw down is not entirely consistent.

The best laid plans….

Well, left for the lake, for about 45 mins (hour from home) from the boat, realized my bag of goodies was at home. Spent a little money at Home Depot….

Thank you so much for the advice. The floor feel pretty good, I may take a sander over it, but I don’t think it’s necessary, it’s pretty level after the multi tool and scraper treatment

Thank You @Stee6043! Your advice was great, I have about 5 hours in removing the carpet. Didn’t waste any time on the hatches, they will need to be rebuilt anyway…. This is a winter project that I am starting early….
