I've decided to maintain instead of replace the ancient GPS on this 2000 310DA.
I'm a puddle water boater and rely more on my depth gauge than any other instrument on the boat. The GPS loses it's fix every time the power is turned off due to a dead battery in the antennae. You have to input a ballpark location every time you power up so the unit can get a fix on local satellites.
I climbed up the arch and disassembled the antennae. As I expected, The CR2032 is soldered in.
What's the best way to remove? Hold a soldering iron against the mounting plate until it comes loose? Or hold it against the battery? Is there more solder on the base of the battery/plate as well? -Kirk Out
