replace goode windlass on 95 330 da

any one replace a goode windlass with a different brand?
my widlass is on it's way out and thought i might want to replace with a different one

Why not replace it with another Good, or have them rebuild the one you have?

I would prefer a rope/chain model, and thier price is a bit high for such, at $650 for a rebuild I can get a new rope chain lewmar for same price

That $650 Lewmar is probably not near as nice of a Windlass. I had a friend install one - it was an entry level windlass.

If you want a windlass that works every time, spend the money for a Good chain model.

If you want to work on your windlass most of the time and call it names, then use whatever Sea Ray puts on new boats now.
