Just looking to get some opinions here. I'm ordering a replacement canvas from Great Lakes and can't decide to keep the original tan color or replace it with black. I know there are other threads on this topic, but I'm not worried about the heat, just what would look best. Thanks.

I replaced the tan on my 340 with captains navy. Huge difference in the way it looks now. It was like buying a whole new boat for a few grand.

I have the black canvas and I'm very pleased. Its hot under any canvas in the heat regardless of color.

If you pick a new color, it will seem like you have a whole new boat! And for a lot less too. Unless you loved the tan, why not change it?

Can I ask how much they are charging? its about time for me too-- and the feedback is good since mine is tan too...I'm trying to get another year though..

Thanks for all the feedback. Great Lakes is offering 25% off through the end of March. A full replacement canvas without the frame for my 310 is about $2200 after the discount.

Can't tell the color motif of your boat but if you have the tan canvas you probably have the tan/black striping and a black bottom (?). A friend of mine switched his '99 330DA with that same color scheme from tan canvas to black and it really does look like a new boat. You know what they say about "once you go black..."

I think the black does produce more heat when anchored. When underway - it doesn't matter. It does look nice.

We had black on one of our SRs. Way too hot for our tastes. Went to light grey after that. Also hot. We like the white Sunbrella on our current boat. It's the best color for us.

I have Medeteranian Blue now and in a season or two would like to replace it with Captain Navy. I think the darker color looks better and it would match the Navy blue stripes already at the waterline

I own a canvas/metal awning company. We use sunbrella, among other brands. I can get you guys any color they make. Stripes too. There are more options than you can imagine or care to look at in any given day. We have a very good boat cover company in town too. Been in business for a long time.

Black or Dark Blue (Probably Black). Very Striking and timeless.

I don't think it counts as white in color if it covered in snow!!!:smt043

Sorry, couldn't resist.

All of my canvas is new black. It really makes the boat look nice and not like every other SR out there with the tan stuff. If you need to replace , I would look at a new color. the black also shows way less spider crap and other dirt than the tan.

Recently had new canvas good advise from the canvas people the tan happens to attracts more mold over the summer if you happen to be in the area common for it--i would go with something other then the tan

We too are changing the original canvas, part of the purchase price to add the camper top. Our canvas installer said that TAN shows Black Streaks. That is all we had to hear. We are going black. It will look stunning!

Good Luck

How's the white hold up to dirt/soot? You have any pix of your 420 with white canvas?

OK scratch that FIRST question - just read that you addressed this in the profile section. Feel free to post pix, though!
