Replacing Dripless on a 90s vintage 330DA

TobnPR and others...Thanks for the info... I have the strong seal... Will order up some seals and replace while on the hard with engine and tranny out.

I replaced my old Tides Strong Seals with PIY PSS seals this winter. After researching the options I picked the PSS seals as they appeared to be more rugged and DIY friendly. The install was pretty easy (once I got the shafts out) and the new seals have performend perfectly so far. Cost was about $250 a side and in my boat they are pretty easy to install.

OK... Started to investigate this possible upgrade... Sorry for the dumb question but what are PIY PSS ( I reviewed entire thread and tried "search" feature and could not find out what these are )

Pull engine? That must be only for V drives. I just put some packing in this evening. In my boat (and Rons) it would seem only the shafts would have to be pulled. Unless I don't understand the installation correctly. 300 bones a piece, I think I'll stick with mine for now. If I had V-Drive it may be worth it to not have to climb under the motors.

Yes for V drives in a boat with a narrow beam with limited access to the seals which are under the engines. My 370 has a 12'7" beam so I can walk between the motors and have good access to the seals. On a 99 330 DA you can barley get your arms between the motors, hence the need to pull one engine to get to both seals.
