Has anyone replaced the riser exhaust hoses? My mechanic quoted me $684 for each engine hose plus labor to install. This seems to be stupid expensive.

Get the part numbers and run them on Ebay for pricing. Use your engine number
Years ago I had to do a repair and needed about 6 inches of exhaust hose. I was able to find it at a Truck repair center -- the type that does the big over the road rigs. Guy was nice enough to give it to me for free instead of figuring out how to "sell" it to me.
