Rod Holders

You could search for my thread on the topic. I put mine in the center of the inner panel of the gunwale, about 8" forward of the end of the non-stick (approx). Placing it there will present a conflict with the divider beneath it. The divider is a barrier that keeps splashed sea water from entering the engine room. Once the hole is drilled and the rod holder is inserted, you'll have to rotate it to get around the divider, then try to rotate it back against the divider (which is thin and somewhat flexible).

That is the final position. It will be canted out about 15 degrees or so because the body of the rod holder will pass inboard of the dividing panel under the gunwale. It's less than a 1/2 day job to do two.

You'll need a whole saw (drill attachment), 4200, rod holders, rain water drain tubes (feed into other drain tubes below the same area - sink to port and wine bucket to stbd). When you drill the holes, the hole saw will plug up with fiberglass and wood before the hole is through. You'll need to remove the hole saw and chisel out the plug, then continue. Plan in advance for the hole to angle inboard 15 degrees as you drill, and forward 45 degrees (down and in).

You can determine the angle by placing the rod holder upside down at the drill site. It will show you the angle. I didn't know about the cant out until after I drilled the hole. I could see on my neighbor's 320 that his rod holders angled out 30 - 45 degrees, but I didn't know why until I drilled. I then had to widen the hole to allow the thing to rotate some to avoid the divider beneath.
