Rode counter

Just paint red, white and blue hieroglyphics on your rode every five feet and you'll be fine.

Cool gadget, but I agree that it's not really needed. You can buy anchor rode markers that you weave/tie into the rode. You can also use zip ties or pieces of colored cloth. The painting idea is a good one, also. Although, the cloth will tend to get quite nasty after a bit of time sitting in the locker.

Example of using zip ties: Use a red tie to equal 25'. Two reds would then equal 50'. When you get to a 100', use a different color.

You could also figure out how fast your windlass pays the rode out... feet/second... then just count.

Once you get comfortable, you'll probably just do it by feel/sight most of the time. But, there will be times when you want to know "for sure".

Lot's of "free" or close-to-free ways to accomplish the task.

I wonder why Sea Ray does not put a rode counter on the helm so we can see the length being deployed...

or maybe some models do..........

My rode came color coded. Low tech, never fails, no maintenance.

How many feet of rode would my 310 have????

It depends:huh:

How deep is it where you plan to be???

I carry over 300 feet on my main anchor on mine. 200' on my secondary anchor.

Thanks, I meant from the factory ,what length comes with the boat??

Per page 2 of your parts manual your boat should have come with:
ROPE/CHAIN KIT, LOFRANS 5/8"X 200'/5/16"X 25'

However, I would verify this before you need the anchor.
