Any one know the diameter of the hole in the flag mount??
looking at a teak pole, but need the width size of the opening on the mount ....i think 1 1/2" but not sure and i cant get to the boat to measure at this time.. i think a 36" pole with a 24x24 nautical flag..... flag/pole size's sound right??? :smt017

Those dimensions seem a bit large to me. Not sure if this will help but here are pics of my factory flag. Just eyeballing my pictures, I am going to say it's about a 30" pole with a 1" diameter.

Maybe these can give you a frame of reference:

I could be wrong, but I don't believe the flag mount was an option in '02. Meaning, the mount could be an after-market one and there would be no way to know the actual diameter. Unless, was it the newer Sea Ray flag mount that was installed (in which case it would be an SS, magnetic one)? Like I said, could be wrong, but I thought it wasn't until the last few years that Sea Ray started offering a flag mount?

Hi, i just looked at the factory specs and nothing is mentioned about a flag mount......which to me looks factory....

Also there's nothing mentioned about the starboard, and port side aft recessed fishing pole mounts.....with rubber closed covers..

when i saw the boat last week.....i asked the surverer what the 3 mounts were for, and he said 2 fishing pole mounts and and a flag pole mount....the flag pole mount in not magnetic...

Hi Bill,

Those two things, especially rod holders, are very common things to be added to boats - either by dealers or customers. Sometimes at the time of sale, sometimes later. But, they would use after-market parts, such as Perko or Attwood. You might be able to take a look on their websites and match up what you have. Probably best just to wait, to be sure. Or, buy a couple of poles and return the wrong ones.

Should be a 1 inch pole. Most are. There is a guideline that says your flag should be appx 1 inch long for every foot your boat is in length. My 290 has a 30-inch long flag. There is also a guideline for the length of the staff, but I forgot what that is. You can put whatever you wish up there, but the guidelines do make for the most asthetically pleasing size.

Thanks very much...i saw the pole holders in the
boating gear pullout at marine max....today...
thanks for the info .....so they are aftermarket....
i guess the flag mount is also .......:)

Thanks....Since my boat is 31 footer, id rather go for the 20"x30" flag. then go to the next 24"x36" size..i think that may be to large

i'm not sure of the pole size for the 20"x30" flag...i guess the 36" pole may be the right size....

i cant find where to look at west marine for the guide..

Just found this....

The "general rule" is 1" long for every 1' of boat length. The staff should be twice the length of the flag's vertical length (Quoted from BoatUS catalog)

From the Westmarine website:

For aesthetically pleasing proportions, we recommend a flag that is 1" long for every 1' of boat length. The staff should be twice the length of the flag’s vertical edge. For example, a 33' boat should fly a 24" x 36" yacht ensign (Model 5456934) on a 48" staff (Model 211557). A shorter staff may be used if there is insufficient space.

On my 29-ft AJ, I have a 36-inch pole and it looks good. The flag is a 20x30. It is a great size for our sized boats. I believe in showing my colors whenever I go out and like it to be larger then most. Nothing is worse then a 30-48ft boat with a 12 inch flag. You see to many of them. Be Proud!

Thanks...i'm planning a 20" x 30" flag for my 310, pole 40" or 36"

We just have a tiny 230CC but proudly fly a 20' X 30" on the tail end. I show the colors anytime were on the water.
PROUD TO BE AN AMERICAN! :smt038
