Sad story but a hopeful happy ending.

Need clarification but I thought he said the divorce is already finalized and he got the boat with title? If that is the case then read my post above about getting a knowledgeable person to come and inspect it. Better option would be to have it surveyed but start out with the local boat guy that knows his stuff and see what they say first.

Check out frisco boater on youtube. He had a similar boat that had bad stringers and transom and you will get an idea of why I said to make sure those are good before doing anything else

Scam scam scam
I'm not convinced it's a scam. Seems he is mainly asking for advice more than anything. I certainly wouldn't be giving him my credit card numbers but so far just seems like he is looking to be pointed in the right direction

agree

Tough crowd. Fortunately he hasn't mentioned anything about using a portable Honda generator on the boat........

Post #4 by Pat57 asked for specifics. Engine make and model would be a good start. We got a few pictures but no real specifics. Not sure what OP wants to do with the thing? He's knowwhere to be found. But if it was me, I'd start with a good cleaning -- either DIY or hired. Then see if it runs. And like Boatman said, check the structural items for rot and deterioration to make sure it's worth it.
