Hello.

I just bought a 2004 Sea Ray 275. It has the 5 Litre Mercrusiser. I have read a lot of posts here about fuel consumption, but I am fairly dumb. What makes it harder for me is I am in Australia and most of the post talk about gallons and even when I try and convert gallons to litres I have no idea what I am doing. Like I said I am fairly thick.

Its about 50Km via ocean to get the boat home.

Navionics allows me to put in my cruise speed in Km's. Which I don't even know what that should be.

Navionics allows me to put in fuel consumption an hour in litres, which I also can't work out.

If I can work out these things I assume it will then tell me how ,much fuel I will need for this trip so I don't run out. I have been in the ocean and ran out of fuel in the past at night which was awkward so would prefer to avoid this happening again.

If anyone can assist that would be really appreciated.

You're good to go. Fill the tank up and you will have plenty of gas left over. Figure on cruising around 25MPH or mid-ish 3,000RPM range for efficiency. But you could halve your efficiency and still have plenty of gas.

Google will help you with conversions.

What Dennis said, but here ya go. https://www.metric-conversions.org/volume-conversion.htm

You can change the units in Navionics to whatever you want.
Menu, then settings, then units. Each one can be set to whatever you want. Then when you enter your boat’s capacities and consumption you can do it in whatever units suit you. Just realize that the gallons are US gallons. You can’t choose between US and imperial gallons.
