Hi everyone

Newbies to the Sea Ray family, recent boating was on are Doral Monticello and before that it was a 19' Bayliner BR. After a year hiatus we are looking at a 1990 Sundancer 350/370, if anyone has tips or info would be much appreciated, Its fairly Clean with lots of updates Tops upper and lower upholstery, Carpets and flooring, Both A/C work very well one being some what newer the other is possibly from 2000ish has central vac. 454 and a 7.5kw genny will know about those items when we do Survey and water test

Are offer on the 350 was accepted now doing a walk through with a friend who knows Sea Ray very well if he doesn't find any issues with what he said was common soft spots, then it will be full Survey and water test hopefully by the weekend.

Being that this boat is older are parts like switches, lighting hard to find or would they be common or generic to multiple models of Sea Ray

The boat we are looking at doe not have a extended swim platform and pending we dont find any serious issues from survey could be are first upgrade, where would someone source a used platform
or what might else would someone suggest as updates or upgrades

I am sure there will be lots of questions so thanks in advance

boaters in Sarnia Ont Canada
mostly Port Huron, St Clair river and Lake
thanks again
Jamie and Zoe

Good luck and welcome to CSR!

Ditto. You gotta know that we have one MAIN rule on here. That rule states "Without pictures, it didn't happen."

We all like to see photos of new boats, new boating families and where you like to boat.

Just sayin'!

Welcome to CSR! Is it the "Robert Charles" at Needhams? Those were really well built boats and at stated prices are a great value! The main thing that I'd be looking for would be that the engine stringers are dry and that the prop shaft seals are the newer dripless variety since they are a real PITA to reach for service.

Let me know if you need another pair of eyes while checking it out!

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome

Jimmy it is the one at Needhams we have made a deal at 21000 understanding the condition, survey was done today some noticeable issues were found
Leaking Transmission
Batteries x 4
Cutlass bearings x 2 and 1 strut is loose
1 hatch seal
boat is very dirty needs some elbow grease

Its does have dripless shafts and interior updates to both upper and lower, top is fairly recent, stringers are dry
We are doing water test hopefully next week if all goes well should own it for the following weekend

If you're not adamant about getting a used swim platform....several people I know have used swimplatforms.com and are very happy with the quality and customer service.

Strange to hear of a loose strut… from what I know those things have to be perfectly aligned with the shaft or there are problems. I take it they are planning to deal with that before water testing? At a deal like that, it sure leaves some room for such repairs. Hope it works out well for you!

Thanks

Gofirstclass hopefully next week I will have some pics up fingers crossed
Trflgrl we have already contacted them hope to have that done over the winter

Jimmy, i could be calling it the wrong thing I know the surveyor did mention the cutlass bearing was bad or loose.

Closed the deal on Wednesday got right to cleaning her up still a few more days of that and interior should be good.

Anyone boating out of sarnia would love to have a hand to move it from sarnia bay to st clair marina, it's my maiden voyage outside the sea trial kinda nervous about docking this thing, moves quite a bit different then are old Doral 27' did

thanks jamie

Jamie, let me know when you're thinking about going and I'll see if I'm available. I'm on CSR at least once most days!

Hi Jimmy, that would be great if you are available. Unfortunately it will be happening tomorrow that was the only day I could get off work before the long weekend and have a driver bring my car down to St clairs Marina for me.

If you could make the trip that would be great but understand short notice and a tuesday doesnt help

thanks Jamie

Welcome aboard

Jamie, Sorry, but I can't make it tomorrow. St Clair's marina have very wide docks and good dock hands to help you if you call in and make a request. The bridge opens on the half hour and its best to approach the Pine River's entrance from down stream - just remember to allow outgoing vessels to depart before entering the river since they have the right of way.

Good luck - I'm sure you will do just fine!
