Without doing much research i am just going to throw this out there. I bought a 2008 270 SLX about 7 months ago. My compressor on my fridge has gone out and I notified MarineMax. The service advisor said that Sea Ray would not do a preauth on the fridge and gave me the number of a NorCold service rep. Said he gave me the number because if they call him they do an upcharge. Guess he's doing me a favor in that sense. Also said Sea Ray will not cover the service call.

OK. So i'm wondering what in the hell is the one year warranty for. They can just pick and choose what they cover? it's probably in some fine print somewhere but it's kind of annoying. It's not like I am asking them to repair gel coat damage that I caused!

Maybe my next boat will be a Cobalt! Think they give 5 years on everything including engine!

thanks,

JL

I've never had a fridge issue, but plenty of other issues with systems in year 1. Never had the dealer push it back on me and never paid a dime out of my pocket.

Heck, even the Sirius receiver went bad and had to be swapped out. The dealer, rather than make me wait on Sirius, took one off a showroom floor boat that matched and got me running in a couple of hours. He then took my warranty replacement unit and put back into the showroom boat. Not sure if that is what SR wants to see them doing, but it showed me the dealer cared more about my satisfaction and time on the water than "procedures".

Read your warranty, then take it to the dealer and ask him to explain #3, which clearly states that you have a one year warranty on the boat and purchased components Sea Ray used to build it.

No, Sea Ray doesn't pick and choose; the warranty is very clear, but there are some exclusions, like boats sold at retail by other than authorized dealers, boats used in commercial use, raced bnoats, etc.

And, I won't begin to try to explain what MM was thinking.

That's garbage. Who are you talking to? Bill Shlick has handled things for us since the Allatoona store folded and has given us good service.

Don't you still have a 45 to prevent late night boardings and other occurances?:smt043

Yeah... I'm hoping not to have to use the .45  I called Sea Ray and they acted like they didn't know why MM was making me call anybody. Sea Ray called MM and told them to find a Norcold dealer and fix it. then Sea Ray called me back and said if I had any questions to call them again.

the guy at MM I talk to is Louie Lazzarro or something like that. I met the Schlickmeister at that low country boil. they need to just fix the damn thing. I mean after a year it will be on me and I'll pay (except for engine, drive, etc...) out of pocket, but it shouldn't be hassle year one. Give me a break. I just dropped some serious cash with MM. it's not like a bought a canoe.....:smt043

Glad to hear they're going to fix it like they should. I've spoken with Louie but didn't know where he was in the line up.

They are doing a thing up at Lanier Sunday and have entered our oldest girl in a docking contest. She's going to dock a boat with Axius and the child that gets the boat closest to the dock wins.

Richard Hunter at the Cumming office has been pretty accommodating. I would recommend him if you have a problem.

well hell!!! tell her to screw axius and just drive that bitch right into the dock. that should be the closest and then grab that trophy and celebrate!:lol::thumbsup:

Sounds like Typical MM service, you'll have to stick your foot in the Service Managers butt to get him to do his job.

You would think with MM consolidating in Georgia they would skim the good employees off the top and try to step out with greater service to increase sales. I guess trying to improve things would go against a MM corporate motto. This is why there will always be a market for the smaller guy.

I always had good dealing with the Holiday Road store. What store are you dealing with? I think the gal I would deal with was named Dana. She would line it up and could drop the boat off in the morning and it would be ready in the afternoon for me to take home.

I have been dealing with Ken Johnston at the Buford store - where I bought mine. Is Bill S. at the Bald Ridge MM? Or is someone from MM still around Allatoona?

Bill S. is at Bald Ridge. It kind of sucks now that the MM on allatoona shut down. Once my warranty is up I'll just use whoever can do the job well, and whoever is a good certified Mercruiser mechanic (well, I already have one of those programed in my mobile).

It's just everything is kind of a pain now with warranty work. Because nothing I need done is major, (the fridge is the biggest thing). example, nav dash lights were not working on port side and a few other little things. Those were repaired and since it was winter I didn't really care how long they took. They moved my boat to Bald Ridge location. Now it's back and there are a few more things that need to be done in addition to the fridge. they told me to make a list and they'll come out there and do it all at once. the list has been made a few weeks ago. when they are going to get the fridge figured out and actually make it out to my boat is like, your guess is as good as mine :(

another little thing was mounting my fire extinguisher. it never got done when boat was delivered. I have an auto extinguisher in engine compartment but coast guard standard requires a mounted extinguisher that can be checked easily. well, i got the boat back and told them the extinguisher still was not mounted. they said it was on the work invoice and the tech got paid for mounting it. I told them that he got paid for moving it from under the helm to under a front bow cushion. still in it's box.

oh well, maybe i'll get it taken care of without having to make too many phone calls. :smt021:smt021
